Nice, but I returned it

I have the older, vertical version of this, and it works great, I use it all the time. I thought the horizontal version would make more sense, keep the camera lower, easier to rotate. But there appears to be some slack in it that I couldn't work out: I think it's related to the tapered slot (attachment to the ball). So when you squeeze the trigger there's a wobble to it before you pan; the vertical one doesn't do that, it has a parallel slot. I tried tightening/loosening what I could, but to no avail. Maybe I just couldn't figure out how to make it work (wouldn't be the first time....)If so, I'd likely buy another if I could eliminate that slack.
Smooth Action - Ball Head

I purchased the Manfrotto Action Grip Tripod head to use mainly for photography. I wasn't sure if this tripod head would work with my digiscope set up due to the weight of the spotting scope. I've tested it out and luckily it works very well. I think it is primarily due to the friction dial. You can pan, swivel and even point the scope to the tops of the canopy. The only trouble I've encountered is when I let others look through the scope and they don't know how to squeeze and rotate the head at the same time. It does take a very firm grip. I can highly recommend this tripod head for all of your photography and digiscoping needs.
