Super scope, super value - 03/30/2014

by Bill P. from Madison WI

Our first time out with this scope on a "warm" blustery March day. We're used to binoculars, and were blown away with the sharp view while looking at waterfowl 800+ yards away. This scope is excellent.

Excellent scope - 01/26/2014

by H. Barger from Tennessee

This is such an improvement over my old scope that it is hard to be objective. Great clarity at near and long distance. Good light transfer. Has already stood up in a great fashion to some tough use/abuse. Focus knobs focus quickly and sharply.
See-through case is a challenge to put on. It would be nice if it came with a hard case, too.
Great price for the quality.

Great scope for the money. - 05/20/2013

by Jason from Payson, IL

I'll be honest, I do not have that much experience with spotting scopes, but I do have experience with good glass. I have a pair of Swarovski Swarovisions 8.5x42 EL and most other binoculars pale in comparison to its clarity and light gathering capabilities. It is hard trying to compare a spotting scope with binoculars because you have a couple of "strikes" against you with a spotting scope...1. you are looking through the scope with 1 eye...therefore your depth perception is not the same...2.more magnification means less clarity the farther out you go....heat dissipation from the ground makes the image unclear, wind, light, making sure you keep your hands off of the scope...they all play apart in how clear and object is. That is why most birders recommend binoculars in the 7-8 power range and the 10x if you can hold them rock steady. However, if you are like will use your binoculars 70% of the time and your spotting scope the rest of the time. Their currently is not another spotting scope on the market in the price range of the Vortex that can compete. If you are use to the best, get the best(if you can afford it) otherwise, you can't go wrong with this one!

A Very Pleased Owner - 01/22/2013

by Paul M. from United States

This scope is fantastic. The image across the field is undistorted at all magnifications. The focus apparatus operates smoothly and is conveniently located. The image field darkens a bit as the magnification increases but is still quite bright throughout the range. I particularly like that the rotating scope body and angled eyepiece accommodates viewers of varying stature. This is particularly useful with a group of birders. All in all, a great scope at a great price. I would recommend it to a friend.

Amazing - 11/23/2012

by John P. from Soda Springs, Idaho

I recently purchased this scope and the image quality is amazing! This is my first scope so i dont have anything to compare it to, but i am amazed at how good it works. Even at the highest power the quality is amazing. The no fault warranty makes it even better. I would highly recommend this to a friend.

Excellent Birding Scope - 10/30/2012

by Jeffrey W. from Sacramento

My first new scope in decades - a step up from my old Celestron C-90. The Vortex is bright and sharp. Eagle's prompt service was exactly as advertised.
