Vortex Viper 15-45x65 Angled Spotting Scope - 05/08/2013

by Jon from north carolina

I recently purchased a Vortex Viper 15-45x65 Spotting Scope from Eagle Optics. I purchased the product based on my price range and the online reviews. I use the scope for birdwatching.

From the first view until the present I've been very impressed with the clarity of the view. The view is crisp and details and coloration accurate throughout the range of the zoom lens. The view darkens as the magnification increases but is still very usable at the higher powers.

My only concern for the product to date is the main focusing knob often has to be turned excessively to achieve focus. The focusing capability overall is excellent including the fine focus knob.

I'm very pleased with the scope and feel like I got a great deal for the money. I'm a serious birder and this scope more than meets my needs for a lot less money than the "higher priced" ones.

This scope is well built and should hold up to heavy use.

I readily recommend this scope to any birdwatchers who want a quality scope without having to get a 2nd job to pay for it!

As always, Eagle Optics service and delivery were top notch!

Uncompromising value - 06/28/2012

by John from Humbodlt County, CA

I am not a spotting scope expert. Used an old Bushnell Spacemaster for years before this purchase. This is a lightweight leap forward that seems to me a very good value.

Optically, I find the images of a high quality from 15 to 45X. Dual focus works well. Eye relief is a little less than perfect with my glasses on. To install the protective case, the eyepiece must be removed; and then, it's still a struggle. Once it's installed, turn the collar down (inside) at the eyepiece end so that it doesn't contact the zoom adjuster.

I am enjoying this scope. You can't beat the warranty.

Wow, nice scope - 02/12/2012

I only tried this at our sportsman's show but since there are no other reviews I'll post mine. WOW! -end of review

OK, a little more detail. This is a nice, nice scope. I have no idea why anyone would spend more. I have some very expensive binoculars - Swaro, Nikon, etc.. It must be the brightness that makes it seem beyond sharp. Even at full zoom 45x, sharp bright and clear. Flawless!

It has a huge eyepiece, smooth dual speed focus and a nice neoprene jacket. I'm done shopping.
