A passion for precision describes the level of quality Swarovski incorporates into this 65mm, aluminum body spotting scope. From the razor-sharp images to the day-to-day functionality, customers love their Swarovski scope. The high-definition (HD) glass integrates fluoride-containing lenses to minimize color fringing, offer sharp, high-contrast images, and benefit digiscoping results. Excellent light transmission is achieved with the fully multi-coated and Swarotop lens coatings. You'll find the Swaroclean coating keeps your view clear as it works to repel water and residue from external lenses. The excellent ten-foot close focus allows you to enjoy scoping in the backyard when you can't get out in the field. Swarovski provides a limited lifetime warranty for their spotting scopes.

Couldn't bite the bullet - 09/17/2014

by James from Pittsburgh, PA

I recently purchased and tested the Swarovski ATS 65 w/20-60x eyepiece, but after careful review, I returned the scope and eyepiece. First, the craftsmanship of this device is superb! I really enjoyed the helical focus which I found to be smooth and easy to operate. The eyepiece is sharp throughout the focal range. So, why didn't I keep the scope and eyepiece? Because I couldn't justify the extra $1500 USD when views through my Vortex Viper 15-45 x 65 (non-HD) were very comparable. The views between the two scopes at low power are equal to my eyes. At max power, the image quality of the Viper does drop off noticeably, whereas the Swarovski stays pretty sharp. The Swarovski also performs better in low light/overcast conditions due to its improved coatings, but again, I'm not sure it is $1500 USD better. An issue for me with the Swarovski was the narrow FOV compared to the Viper. This is due to the Swarovski's increased power and perhaps I would have liked the views through Swarovski's 25-50x eyepiece, but I did not purchase and test that device. I feel confident with the IDs I can make with the Viper and am happy to say that I am able to get near Swarovski views for a lot less money. Unfortunately, the Viper (non-HD) is no longer available for purchase (only HD models are now sold), which makes me wonder if the instrument was too good to be sold at its price point (~$500 USD).

Best for birding - 04/15/2014

by Elizabeth C. from New York

This has totally changed my birding experience. The pictures are so clear. I have the adapter for my phone and very detail of every backyard creature is in view. I have been birding for years but until now I haven't really seen the birds. So much fun

Swarovski 65mm ATS HD - 06/16/2013

by David E. from Charleston SC

This scope arrived in a few days as promised. It was packaged well and the instructions were complete. I put a Swarovski 30-50 wide angle zoom lens on it. I am getting a lot of wows from other birders on its picture quality; thanks Eagle Optics. Sincerely David E.

Astounding clarity! - 02/28/2013

by Audrey M. from Lenexa, KS

My husband surprised me for Valentine's Day with my Swarovski
65 mm ATS HD angled spotting scope. We had had the opportunity to try one at the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary over the holidays and were impressed with the amazing views afforded by this wonderful scope. Even my husband, who is a non-birder, was impressed and asked if I would like to have one. Yes,of course, I said, but they are pricey. He said, it seems like it's worth it because it is so good. When I opened the box and found my Swarovski scope, I was floored! I am already finding it easier to identify species with the fantastic clarity. My birding will surely improve greatly since I can see details so much better! Thank you, I will enjoy my scope for the rest of my days.

Great Scope! - 07/01/2009

by Carol Taggart from Menlo Park, CA

Since this was a lifetime purchase, my husband and I took a long time trying to decide on a scope for birding. We are completely thrilled with the Swarovski 65mm scope in both its optics and design. Eagle Optics personnel were extremely helpful and knowledgeable in helping us with making our choice.

Great Spotting Scope - 07/01/2009

by Gary Fredrick from Minnesota

I have owned the Swarovski 65mm ATS HD Angled Spotting scope for over 5 years. This scope delivers an excellent image and is sharp from edge to edge. I used it for field trips and nature observations such as Hawk Ridge in Duluth, watching shipping activity on the Great Lakes and digiscoping. This product is very durable and I am not afraid to take it on hikes as it packs easily and. I own the 20x60mm eye piece and the 30mm WA. For digiscoping I use the 20x60mm eyepiece with the DCA zoom adapter and I am getting very good results. It is very stable on a good tripod and my grandson has been able to use it since he was 3 years old. Buy it will be a family heirloom. GF

Excellent Scope - 03/08/2009

by Jack Rothman from City Island

The view from this instrument is incredible. It will become apparent the first time you focus on that distant bird. Besides the sharp image and great ergonomics, the color rendition is amazing.I think that is what impressed me the most. It is astounding to see the colors you've been missing for years. I spent many hours researching high end scopes online and also had experience briefly using many different ones over the years. I never liked dragging my old scope around, but this one makes it worthwhile.
The foot of the scope attaches into the Monfrotto 128RC head to make a solid connection and a nice fluid motion for scanning. However, the head increases the scope's weight considerably. It's the price you'll have to pay for that smooth motion and wobble free, secure fit. It definitely is a trade off, though. I reduced the weight with a Monfrotto 190CX3 carbon fiber tripod. Altogether, it is a really nice setup.
I tried the 80HD- but I'm not sure it's worth the extra weight, unless you plan to bird in very limited light. Then, it might be worth the extra weight and expense. If you intend to carry a scope for hours or plan to travel with it, I would suggest the 65.

Svelte Swarovski Super Scope - 01/12/2009

by Alan Birnbaum from Fresno CA

Whenever I have used this compact Austrian optical marvel in the field over the last several years, rarely has it not shown anything evident in even larger scopes, including Zeiss and the like. Coupled with the 30X wide-angle ocular, the ATS65HD provides a large, bright, sharp field, and a view that nicely complements either my 8X or 10X binoculars. Handling is excellent. The very large single speed focuser is more than adequate for terrestrial usage (though I do prefer a double-speed unit on my astronomical scopes, where powers go much higher than 30X.) The angled configuration means that I can rapidly rotate it to provide views to those shorter than myself. So far, I have used it on a Bogen 728B tripod, very nice and light, but am about to upgrade that to the somewhat heavier but sturdier Bogen Neotec, along with their 3130 fluid head. With either mount, one can directly mount the Swarovski foot onto the head, without worrying about the scope swiveling. As to whether the HD is worth a 50% premium over the base model, I can't answer, though I have friends who have been very satisfied with that alternative. Similarly, as to whether one should get the 80 mm variant instead, that's also a personal choice, to be considered if digiscoping is a primary aim, or if your birding haunts are very low light, not generally an issue here in California.
