Great Trail Scope - 10/23/2014

by Mike from Utah

I purchased this and the Viper Summit SS tripod kit, together they weight in at 4.25 pounds on my postal scale, less than my big tripod. I plan to carry them when I hike in areas where I would like to observe wildlife. The scope is clear, easy to use and light enough to go almost anywhere. The performance will not match my big Swarovski but it will be perfect for use on the trail. I am glad I made the purchase.

Excellent scope, but funny looking - 08/30/2013

by Bob W. from Northern California

I purchased this scope over a year ago before Eagle Optics was stocking it, from another dealer to replace my Nikon ED50. I am very satisfied with it. I wear glasses and never could get comfortable looking through the little Nikon, it was like looking through a straw. But the Opticron has great eye relief, the zoom is smooth to operate, and the EP is a pleasure to look through. The image resolution is excellent, as good as the Nikon. It is about the same length as the Nikon, but heavier. It seems much sturdier than the Nikon. I use it with a carbon fiber tripod and a Gitzo ball head and I can easily pack it around all day. I would not recommend this scope for seabird watching, but I highly recommend it for anyone wanting a light compact scope to comfortably carry around, or for traveling. I will be taking it to Brazil this fall. Highly recommended for what it is.
