This scope gets great far-away shots. I bought mine back when Nikon still made digiscope kits. Too bad they still don't make them. The focus ring on this scope is easier to use than other scopes.

Very impressed with our new Nikon Fieldscope 25-75x82 ED straight spotting scope. Extremely clear and crisp edges. We were able to see a wolf eating a carcass in Yellowstone through the scope well before we could make it out with the naked eye. Compared it with Swarovski's that were there and couldn't see a discernible difference. Only wish I had gotten the angled though.

So far this has been an excellent product. I've used this for viewing targets at a gun range, viewing Axis Deer, Mouflon Sheep, and various birds. The brightness and sharpness of the object are what stands out the most. The "view" is in focus even at the edges. There is very little re-focusing required when zooming in or out. The focusing and zoom "rings" are very smoothe. Next up the moon & planets....

I have owned my Nikon Fieldscope for over a year now and just attended the excellent "Spring Wings" birding festival in Fallon Nevada. I have purchased a Nikon 90 camera and the Nikon digiscoping adapter as well. To make this a simple comment --I love it. The only fault I have with the scope are the lens cap & cover. They are designed to slip on instead of screw on. But from the very beginning, they were too loose and constantly fall off. I met two other birders at the festival with the same scope and they expressed the same opinion. Now that I am back home, I am going to purchase some felt pads to insert to see if that will solve the problem. Otherwise, the scope is a very good buy. Other birders used my scope along side a Sowarski and felt the difference in performance was minimal when comparing the price.
When you buy quality . . .

Last year I made the commitment to participate in Boomershoot (it is more fun than you can imagine, check it out at http://www.boomershoot.org/) and knew I would need a good spotting scope as targets range from 375 to 700 yards. After looking at every possible quality and price range I found several reviews of spotting scopes on a bird watching site that were very well written and balanced. From that, I determined that the Nikon Fieldscope 25-75x82ED was what I wanted. I was not disappointed! I got it in time to make one trip to a local range before Boomershoot. It is amazing to see .243 caliber holes at 300 yds. The view is crystal clear all the way to the edge and the large objective lens and ED glass made the 75x look as bright and crisp as the 25x. At Boomershoot, we had no trouble tracking bullet trace and impacts out to 600yds. We did not try to shoot beyond that range. The scope made for some great fun and great shooting. The price stretched my budget but I am glad I made the sacrifice. As a wise friend once told me, "When you buy quality, you only cry once."
