advantage of the angled scope. - 06/15/2010

My original review ended up as the review for the straight scope. See Kenneth, 5/27/2010 Straight Nikon Fieldscope 25-75x82ED. I would like to add that the Angled spotting scope is a little more difficult in sighting your bird. There is a sighting groove on the lens shield that can be rotated 360 degrees to assist in aiming the scope. The advantages are numerous and outweigh this minor problem. My wife is 5'1. I can focus on the subject and then rotate the scope so she can view the bird without having to readjust and refocus the scope. I often lead birdwalks and this feature allows others to see the really neat bird before it flies. It is also easier to use if the subject is high overhead or for viewing the stars. This particular offer with the Monfrotto tripod is a good deal. I paid $360+ for my Monfrotto tripod separately.
