terrible tripod - 07/10/2009

The spotting scope is fine, but we are most disappointed in the poor quality of the tripod: before we could even extend the (tiny) legs, screw-in handle for moving the scope up or down had fallen off and cannot be reattached, making it impossible to maintain the scope steady or move it; another tube whose function we cannot decipher immediately fell off the bottom of the tripod and was lost in tall grass.

Good scope for the money - 06/30/2009

The Leupold Sequoia is a good scope for the price. Focusing at the extreme magnification is a bit dicey but backing off the power just a touch makes it much easier. The scope is a compromise between brightness and weight and is plenty bright for 95% of my needs. The included tripod is fine if you have a car hood to rest it on or a table. Field use requires something more.
