Got the new scope a couple of weeks ago and put it to work doing some preseason scouting for elk and mulies here in western Colorado. Great tool for pinpointing travel patterns of game in and out of the draws on our ranch. We can sit up high on a ridge line without having to actually walk into close proximity to the animals and risk bumping them out of an area they are frequenting. The glass is exceptionally good in low light conditions when the game are most active. I've been able to pinpoint individual animals early and late that I could not pickup with my naked eye or with a good set of binos. I don't really plan to use these when stalking, but they will definitely help me eliminate some of the guess work in choosing which animals to pursue or pass up. I really like the compactness of the unit and when coupled with a good quality carbon fiber tripod (I'm using a Manfrotto 190CXPRO4 that weighs about 3 lbs, but extends so I can use the scope sitting or standing) they really put less burden on you than most other spotting scopes on the market. Perhaps the best feature in my opinion is the long eye relief. Usually my son and I scout together and so being able to focus on a given animal or group and have multiple hunters check the scope without any readjustment is a real advantage. The HD glass does prevent colors from washing out on you and when you're looking for patches of animal hide or horns, color clarity can mean the difference in missing a trophy thats partially hidden. If you are a western hunter, you can't beat this model for price and performance. I've tried the lower priced units and have always been disappointed in the quality of the materials, the bulk and the poor performance in low light. I know there are higher priced spotting scopes, but this scope can do everything those scopes can do, and its lighter and costs less. Believe me when you're moving a lot and need to setup quick to glass animals from ridge lines and mountainsides, you will appreciate this scope. I personally recommend buying just the scope and not the kit. Spend the extra money you save on a quality carbon fiber tripod that you can use at the bench, while sitting on a mountainside, or when standing upright.

Had the opportunity to compare this Leupold 20-60X80 Green Ring scope to a 82MM Kowa. Considering you could buy four or more Sequoias for a single Kowa they are an incredible bargain! The Kowa at 27 power and Leupold Sequoia set the same there was no noticeable difference!! Put my Leupold Gold Ring HD against both Kowa & Green Ring at same power the Gold Ring HD is superior in contrast and sharpness. Test was made by taking all three spotting scopes and looking the planet Jupiter. The bands on the planet were very visible with the Gold Ring HD! Not the other two.
