Thumbs up from Argentina - 04/08/2009

by Charles Duncan from Portland, Maine

In February, as part of a project funded by the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation entitled “Recovering Knots, Oystercatchers and other Priority Shorebirds,” we purchased a Brunton Eterna 80 mm scope for use by our partners on the Patagonian Coast of Argentina.

Now after several weeks use reading bands on Red Knots our partners are delighted with the scope in the field. They wrote:

The telescope is a marvel!! I am sending a photo of Rodolfo with it in San Antonio Oeste [Argentina] taken when he came here to be trained in reading shorebird bands. I am also sending Pablo's opinion [another well-known Argentine shorebird researcher]. I have looked through the scope myself and it is very good! Many thanks for helping us obtain something this good. Pablo calls it the “eagle’s eye.”
And from Pablo: "I can report that the telescope is working magnificently, quite a change for us. We didn’t know this brand and the truth is that now I can recommend it unquestionably."
