Zeiss DiaScope 30/40X eyepiece - 10/12/2010

by Bill from USA

Comparing this to the very best eyepieces I own (some adapted for use with my Z85 using Baader bayonets)including the superb Pentaxes, I can appreciate the quality of this eyepiece. I'm really critical when it comes to resolution and contrast, and I'm telling you you won't be sorry you added this eyepiece to your collection. The user is treated to a big wide view which is bright, contrasty and sharp. I, as an eyeglass wearer, might have liked another 2mm of eye relief, but that's all I can moan about. I like 20mm and you get 18mm with this one.

The 'New' Zeiss 40X Wide Eyepiece for Digiscoping - 07/05/2010

by Jerry from Wyandotte, MI

I purchased this eyepiece for my 'old' Zeiss Diascope 85T*Fl. I was looking for more useful magnification for digiscoping with my Nikon Coolpix P6000. Although the 20-60X Zoom Eyepiece is probably the best zoom eyepiece on the market I was limited to digiscoping at 20X only.
For me to be happy with the new 40X eyepiece I needed it to demonstrate not only bright, sharp views and edge-to-edge sharpness, but it needed to show NO evidence of chromatic aberration under high-contrast conditions, such as white siding on a bright sunny day. There was also concern that this 'new' eyepiece would not fit the 'old' line of Diascopes. It did, and this eyepiece dazzled!
