JDH from Tacoma WA
I haven't used it hunting yet, but I did install it in one of our scopes this evening and took a look look at a brick building that is north of 1,200 yards from my driveway and can clearly and distinctly make out the grout lines in the brick facade. These grout lines are nice and sharp and have served me well for the ten years we have lived here as a test target for optical instruments.
Very nice bright image at dusk.
This MOA reticle is going to work out great for rockchuck and prairie dog shooting. We will be able to call shots and give the shooter a very exact windage and elevation correction in minutes.
I think thirty power is just about perfect and this WA eyepiece will definitely out perform the 20-60 for varmint shooting applications. We rarely use above thirty power because of distortion caused by heat and this eyepiece has about the same FOV as the variable eyepiece does at 20 power.
I have had another spotting scope with reticle and a reticle is really nice when trying to show something to kids and others who are not experienced at spotting and have trouble picking up what you are attempting to show them, especially wildlife. With a reticle the inexperienced don't have any trouble locating an object in the scope.
Another first rate Vortex product at a very reasonable price.
