Vortex 77-82mm Spotting Scope Case

I called Eagle Optics for a recommendation on a case for my Nikon Field Scope II. Nikon doesn't make a case for this particular scope so I wanted to see if there was a case from another manufacturer that might be a good fit. I spoke to Tom and he recommended the Vortex 77-82mm case, which I bought.
Terrible fit, way too big. I considered sending it back but I also know (or believe)that there's no other alternative that would work better. I considered modifying the Vortex case by cutting and sewing, but that's too much work for a case that will only be used when it's raining. So I've kept the case, and so far never used it.
But this is the first Eagle Optics purchase that I found most unsatisfactory. I suppose if Tom had explained that this was not going to be a good fit, I would have decided to go ahead anyway, or looked elsewhere.
