Leica scope case - 09/16/2014

by virginia from corvallis oregon

I'd resisted spending the money for a case for a Leica scope I bought two years ago but am glad I finally did. It was especially appreciated on a recent field trip in a shared van with no secure spot for optical equipment.

The case seemed too tight when I first put it on the scope but the snugness no doubt contributes to the protective qualities. It doesn't obstruct the viewing or the focussing knobs at all, and the flaps for the eyepiece and scope end are easy to take off and put on. The only problem I had was with changing the angle of the scope but I suspect that was "operator error."

It's definitely a quality item, as one would expect from Leica.

Good protection, easy to carry with tripod attached - 04/13/2010

by Marcel Holyoak from Davis, California

I recently purchased this with its scope. It fits snugly, has good magnetic catches to hold the eyepiece and objective portions in place. When attached to the shoulder strap you can easily carry the scope with a closed tripod attached over one shoulder. When viewing through the scope, the eyepiece and objective portions of the case can either dangle attached by a press-stud or can be detached. Leaving them attached made me nervous that they might fall off when hiking along a forest trail for example, so I'd recommend taking them off and storing them in your bag or pocket. Apart from the high price it is a great case. It is an improvement over the equivalent case for the Nikon Fieldscope (which I previously owned) because it enables the scope to be carried with a tripod attached more easily.
