Use this updated Kowa case to protect and carry your Kowa TSN 772 or 774 straight spotting scope. The streamlined, fitted design is convenient for use in the field, especially while digiscoping.
Good Case, but not great
Phil from North Florida
I bought this case after returning the original Kowa carry case. It can be used as a see-through protective case on a tripod. However, while the case is well made, it is poorly designed and without modification, hard to use. 1) replace the carry strap with something padded (I used a rifle sling). 2) Remove and resew on the D ring at the eyepiece end to attach the strap; it's attached so the strap pulls at an angle. Somehow, the designer did attach the objective end D ring correctly. 3) remove the flaps and straps that apparently hold the lens covers; they fall out and make it hard to quickly remove/replace the end covers. 4) Remove the attachments for the eyepiece cover; replace with velcro. The designer used velcro for the focus cover, but not the eyepiece.
Want to see what a good design looks like? Look at the protective cover for a Nikon Fieldscope and compare to the Kowa. Again, with an evening's work, this will satisfy the need, but the design is terribly clumsy. It is well made, and I've kept it, but you shouldn't have to remake the cover to be able to quickly put it on and off while tripod mounted. Remade, with a decent padded carry strap and a light tripod, this scope and cover will go with you everywhere.
