After nearly a year of use in the field, the Kite Skua case for my Swarovski ATX 95mm scope has turned out to be a very good investment. Taking it in and out of cars and hiking along forest trails, it has gotten occasional bumps from doors and trees with absolutely no damage. A couple of other Swarovski scope owners have commented positively about the additional protection compared to the stock cases along with better resistance to rain.

The fit, while snug, is not exceedingly tight and was very easy to put on (contrary to another reviewer's comments - perhaps the wrong size case?). I did take out one thin layer of foam padding in the eyepiece case to make more room for the large rubber eyepiece cap, but there's still plenty of protection.

decent scope cover but needs work... - 08/06/2014

This case does provide cosmetic protection for the scope barrel. However, it seems a size too small and was a real bear to get on. Also would be nice if it came in an earth tone or 2 instead of black.

Most importantly...it has a MAJOR design flaw, and straight out of the bag it stands a good chance of damaging the objective lens!!! A 4 layer sandwich of the neoprene material is glued to the inside of the objective cover flap. The sandwich protrudes into the hood and can rub against the objective glass. ANY rubbing of the glass can wear the coatings or scratch the glass, especially if there is any dust or fine grit that gets on the glass or cloth while the scope is in use. I've learned this the hard way with a Canon 300/4 lens that sat in a lens case without a cap on or hood extended. The thickness of the sandwich also prevents use of the hard objective cap.

I have come up with solution to this issue. I peeled the sandwich off of the flap, taking care not to rip any of the material. Throw the sandwich away. Unfortunately the single neoprene layer of the flap will not provide much resistance to anything that might hit the glass. So I've had a piece of velcro sewn to the inside of the cover and placed an adhesive backed piece of the "opposite" velcro to the hard cap. The hardcap is now a semi-permanent piece of the flap. It will provide great protection even if it isn't snapped into place in the scope hood, although it should be easy to do so.

Excellent Field Case - 10/05/2013

Looking for more rugged field protection against water, dust and bumps for the ATX scope than the stock offerings, I came across the Kite Skua cases, a product of the U.K. Not having more than the brief online info, I contacted an E.O. staff member, who was extremely helpful with questions about the features and fit of the objective and eyepiece cases. He took the time to try them on an ATX angled eyepiece and 95 mm objective and quickly followed up with a return phone call along with my order for the 95 and 65mm objective and eyepiece cases.

Using them in the field, I've been impressed with their protection and ease of use. They fit snugly and the neoprene is thick enough for further protection to an already armored scope body. Extra neoprene layers provide padding for the optics at the front of the objective and top of the eyepiece cases. Both eyepiece and 95mm cases total a little over eight ounces.

User access is fast. Unzip the objective case, fold back the covering (which can be used to store the objective cap)over the zoom/focusing rings, and remove the top portion of the eyepiece case (snug enough to securely hold the standard eyepiece cover). The DRSM adapter (for the TLS Apo) will fit inside the Kite Skua eyepiece cover to facilitate digiscoping. The neoprene material minimizes noise.

Minor quibbles. Padding for the carry strap could be wider for comfort, especially for a 95mm scope w/photo adapter and scope rail attached. The strap is also rather long. It was replaced. In addition, for additional security, I reinforced the area, where the D-rings are held in place to the cases, by sewing some additional strap material to the neoprene to further assure that the weight of my outfit does not pose a potential future issue.
