Maximum protection and ease of use are crucial when it comes to selecting a spotting scope case. The Kite Skua case for the Swarovski ATM scope provides exactly that. A waterproof neoprene case fits securely around the body and eyepiece for protection while transporting and offers quick access to scope functions in the field.

I wanted a stay-on cover, but not willing to spend $250+ for the Swarovski. This is 1/2 the price and works great. It fits snug, the lens and focus knob covers open easily and stay out of the way, it's lightweight yet feels thick and padded. For traveling, I put the regular lens covers on under the built-in case covers. But, for in and out of the car or walking to the next bird I just use the case covers.
The case comes with a carrying strap that I haven't perfected because I usually carry it with tripod attached and ready. But it's a nice addition and optional.
The only (small) annoyances I've found are: 1) I have a 25-50x eyepiece and when I remove the eyepiece cover it is so tight it sometimes pulls off the rubber ring on the eye end of the eyepiece, and 2) for some reason the little knob on the side of the scope that locks twist angle comes loose inside the cover and it's hard to reach to tighten - no way with gloves.

I purchased the "Kite" for my ATM 80. I had watched the product for 2 years trying to come up with a cost effective way to get it here from Europe. On a whim last month, I was on the Kite site and checked for vendors as I have family in England. I was pleasantly surprised to see that EO has picked up the Kite products. A couple of weeks ago, our Audubon group did a day trip to Burke's Garden, Va. to look for Rough Legged Hawks and both Eagles. The conditions were fairly rough with the temp at around 34, snow showers and the wind blowing 25-35 mph.
Shortly after arriving, our guide located a Rough Legged (Lifer for me) in a tree at about 350 yards. The column halted and I whipped the scope out. The Kite performed excellently. With gloved hands, I had no problem unzipping and exposing the main lens - the cover attached nicely underneath with velcro. The constant wind did not dislodge the cover. The ocular cover (I had already disengaged the plastic snap lock as that task would be tough with gloves) came off easily and was not a distracting factor despite the wind.
The focus ring cover is easy to peel back (velcro) with gloves and the slight amount of tactile resistance created by the cover was barely noticeable and is actually a bit helpful in dampening "over travel" when focusing on a hovering Rough Legged at a fair distance.
The padding offered by the Kite is significant and the main lens cover slides on easily when you get back in your car. The cover stays in place without zipping when you put the scope back in the hatch or trunk of your car. No worries about scratching your lens inadvertently when everyone places their scopes back in the car for the traverse to the next stop. Very happy with the purchase.
