Excellent Rangefinder at a good price - 09/21/2010

by Tim from SE Wisconsin

I've always wanted a rangefinder for hunting. In the past, I have borrowed them from hunting buddies. Those usually worked okay.

I saw that Eagle Optics had "open box" specials on these Nikons. That pushed me over the edge. The shipping was amazing:
- I paid for them at about 1:30 pm.
- They were entered on Fedex.com around 2:30 pm
- They were on a truck at 3:30 pm
- They arrived at my house the next day (I live pretty close but still...)

I've used the rangefinder for early bow season. I've ranged a zillion targets while sitting bored in my treestand. They rangefinder has worked great!! It feel great in my hand. The optics are clear. It has detected every single target I selected.

I am very pleased!

Simple range finder - 12/03/2009

by Todd from Stoughton, Wisconsin

I got the Nikon 550 range finder as a gift from my wife.

Pros
-Simple, simple, simple - To use-one button for everything. I had a 12 year old try it and he thought it was a snap.
-If you hold the button and change objects, it will adjust distance on the fly, which is nice.
-The eye piece does not twist up, but can be rolled back for eyeglass use.
-nice and compact
-good battery life - I am still on the orignal after one year
-if you are too close or too far away, or you don't get a good surface it will just flash dashes

Cons
-only a 1 year warranty
-price - but that is subjective.

Overall, I really like this rangefinder.
