Bushnell's Stealthview 5x42 Night Vision Monocular pairs high quality optics with electronics to produce images comparable to Generation 2 technology. Once those high-resolution views are captured to the black and white LCD screen, you can transfer the images to a computer, television, or camcorder. The Stealthview incorporates two infrared diodes for illumination of objects in complete darkness; one remains on at all times and the spotlight can be switched on to view objects at the 200-foot range. All this technology provides the superb resolution you need to view the surroundings while you are caving, camping, or observing wildlife. This model requires 6 AA batteries (not included) and comes with the Bushnell 2-year limited warranty.

Night vision good, improvements required - 03/04/2011

by Ezekiel from Massachusetts

My general review is fair, the actual night vision is great in function and I have already enjoyed using the device constantly. The image resolution is good, distance viewing good, but mechanically this device is clunky at best. I work as a international bird guide and lecturer, so when dealing with clients I expect not only good image, but good and smooth functionality. I need a product that I can hand to someone unfamiliar with, in this case night vision, and is easy to use....this is not that.
The primary problem is the extremely poor diopter design. The diopter has no click-stop function, and the slightest brush with my finger moves the diopter significantly enough to require adjustment, CONSTANTLY, in the dark...this really stinks. Handing the device off to other folks is even more difficult. The actual process of use involves constant readjustment of not only the diopter but the focus as well. This makes for a very poor combination, awkward mechanical function, and constant readjustment. This really ruins the product for me and even on sale I would not buy this device again.bas a user and especially a guide I require seamless mechanical functionality, this is far from it.

I Love thiis Monocular - 10/30/2010

by Karen from WA state

It is light weight and easy to handle with a cord you can put around your neck so you can not drop it. What a wow when I press the IR button in the pitch black night. It is amazing to see so much in total darkness without anyone able to see you.

I have night vision goggles that need some light to see since they do not have IR. This monocular is so much better.
