Sharpness Lacking - 10/20/2014

by Oregon Vince from Oregon

I did a side by side comparrison to everthing in my drawer and this came in dead last.
Even my Harbor Freight $49 monocular beat them.
My 6x viper binocs beat it too.
My Brunton macroscope beat it decisively.

I don't know if some copies are sharper than others.

I wish somebody made a good 8x monocular with LER but I can't find it.
The nikon 5x15 is very good but only 5x.

Very nice monocular - 02/25/2014

by Harvey M. from Wheaton, IL

This is a nice, solid monocular. The magnification is good for hand-holding and the image with the 42mm objective is bright. Focus is smooth, firm, not sloppy. Close focus is great, around 6ft. The field of view (6.9 deg) is fine and the view is sharp to the edges.

It comes with a padded nylon case, velcro flap and a belt loop on the back. There are eyepiece and objective lens covers and a strap that attaches to a ring on the body. ( I hot-glued a nylon cord to the edge of the covers and ran it through the ring to "tether" the caps)

This is a very nice unit, maybe more expensive than others available but very nicely done. It makes it easy to have very good optics always available. Although I already have a number of quality binoculars and spotting scopes available, I am very glad to have added this monocular to my optics.
