Swarovski's new spotting scope rail employs a two-position support to stabilize scopes for vibration-free viewing and digiscoping. Designed to balance Swarovski ATS/ATM and STS/STM scopes with camera equipment attached, this rail also allows the scope to sit upright on a flat surface when not attached to a tripod. Easy to use, the rail features quick attach and release mechanisms and slides into place with the push of a button.
Note: The Swarovski Spotting Scope Rail is not compatible with the gray Swarovski AT/ST spotting scopes.

The scope rail fits perfectly on my Manfrotto 128RC tripod head. I can easily balance my Canon 40D with a 50mm lens attached to my spotting scope using a Swarovski UCA adapter. The rail is expensive, but is very well made and allows me to easily digiscope. Without the rail I had difficulty taking photos through my Swarovski Spotting Scope with a compact Canon s90 attached to the scope due to the weight of the camera on the back end of the scope.
Being able to take photos through the scope with the DSLR allows me to take photos at 6 frames per second, focus through the optical viewfinder, and use an electronic remote to eliminate vibrations.
This rail has solved my camera balancing issues, now to find the birds!
A welcome addition for Digiscoping

This thing is awesome. It does add some weight to the overall set up, but it is a HUGE improvement over the old swarovski balance plate. The best thing about it is how easy it is to switch to a different balance point without having to take off the plate and re-screw anything. You just flip the lever on the side, slide it smoothly into place and then flick it back into locked position. Also an improvement is the added space on the underside to fit your thumb under onto the bottom of the scope focus wheel, the old plate got in the way a little. Also cool that you can slide it off the bottom rail/plate (by first depressing the green safety button catch) and use it on your table, car roof, etc, as a stable base. Very handy, and definitely provides a more balanced and less shaky image when digi-scoping. Its not as expensive as I would expect from Swarovski, but still arguably overpriced, worth it though, as there is nothing as well designed on the market.
