Beautiful Binoculars... But...
Randy L. from Berlin, MA
My sixth Zeiss purchase from Eagle Optics, I buy from no one else. Love these binoculars, on par with the clarity and sharpness of my 10X32 Conquest HD's also purchased from Eagle Optics, and the free field case (thanks Eagle Optics!) certainly was appreciated. The cheap pouch was a joke, but my biggest pet peeve is the same as others, what was Zeiss thinking with the stupid and borderline environmentally irresponsible plastic case I feel too guilty about throwing into the trash? Are you kidding me Zeiss, really, what do you suggest I do with this behemouth plastic case?
5 Stars on the bino's, -5 Stars on Zeiss' "display" case stupidity.

What were they thinking?

I used my Cabelas points to get the 10 x42 Zeiss Terra ED binocular, a very nice glass. Came with a great jewel box type display case and even a velvet-like cloth bag. My question is, do I put the bino in the bag and then the plastic box and then in my backpack or just duct tape the box to my quad rack? What a joke! A $400-$450 quality instrument that is meant to be carried to the field in a cloth bag and/or plastic box? Come on Zeiss. After the fact, I see that Eagle Optics supplies a free field case. Guess I'll get my points back and purchase the glass from Eagle. Sorry Cabelas. I know it's not your fault but I am p----d! I would rate the binocular as 5 stars but the whole package as 2 stars for idiocy.
Zeiss Terra ED 10x42 Binocular
Steven D. from United States
Decided to purchase these binoculars after reading a bunch of favorable reviews on different websites. We will be using them mostly for wildlife viewing.
Zeiss had a great rebate offer for $50 that made this deal irresistible so I decided to purchase through Eagle since their website was very complete and user friendly.
Delivery and shipping went well...all in all a wonderful experience.
***All my friends who have looked through my new binoculars are very impressed with the quality and overall construction of them.***
The only slightly negative part was filling out and sending in the rebate form...but that was a Zeiss problem not Eagle Optics.
I would definitely purchase from Eagle again in the future.
Zeiss terra 10x42
Joe G. from Nyc,ny
The optics are excellent. I like to ten power over the eight. The best part is that the weight is very light and the binoculars handle very well. Excellent for birding.
Steve from Portland, Oregon
Main use for these is birding. Coming from a relative inexpensive pair of Nikon 8 X 42's it was not the increased magnification that I noticed as much as the incredible increase in clarity and color, particularly at longer distances. The depth of field is very narrow, which I like and the focus knob is solid and precise.
My only complaint about the Terra was the packaging. Yes, the gigantic clear and white hunk of plastic that looks more like a display case for a museum piece than a shipping carton. With a good field case, I can see no reason to every put the binoculars back in this monster. It is a horrid waste of material that will just be thrown away and I see no indication that it is recyclable.
Fine binos, outstanding customer service.
Gary R from Chelan, Washington
I have only had the binoculars for a few weeks, but they are all that I expected, good quality glass and good sturdy build. They fit my hands well and the weight is fine. I had a concern with the eye relief but after testing them and comparing them to others with greater eye relief the Terras work just fine with my glasses. EOs customer service is outstanding. I exchanged emails and phone calls with Ben for about a month or more as he helped me make a decision. With his help I narrowed my choices to 2 pair. Ben sent me the 2 pair and after a week or more of using the 2 and a few more emails I made my decision and returned the other pair. Dealing with Ben and Eagle has been a real pleasure and I will certainly tell my friends of my experience and I would not hesitate to shop there again. Thank you Ben and Eagle Optics.
Great quality, but a bit too heavy for me
ann from Salt Lake City, UT
So, I really wanted these snazzy little binos, but my eye-width seemed a bit too narrow for them. I ended up with a lot of fuzz in my field of view, even on the inner portion of the lenses. They also seemed a bit too heavy for me, as I had trouble holding them steady. They arrived in great shape, and returning them was no problem. I settled for the Vortex Viper 8x28. I know, I did sacrifice some magnification and light gathering, but I have a great quality, lightweight binocular for my little outdoor adventures.
So far, looks good
Four by Six from DFW
Only had a while. Picture is very bright. Depth of focus is narrow, in that you will need to adjust focus wheel as you pan and locate different objects in your field of view. Lots of sun and glare diminish the contrast of the image, but at dusk the image is stunning. I have eye problems, and the diopter adjustment and past infinity focus allow me use with and without my glasses. Very comfortable glassing and ease of use. You just lift them up and there's the image - no hunting around for best image. Very happy with purchase thus far.
