Zeiss has produced an impressive binocular in the Conquest 8x32. Vivid accurate colors, no noticeable chromatic distortions, exceptionally bright, sharp image, great field of view, good low light performance and excellent contrast make these binoculars an excellent choice.
Everything about this binocular speaks of quality. Zeiss went into overtime attending to every element, including rugged construction, comfortable well shaped eye cups, balanced handling and silky smooth focusing.
I compared the Conquest to a few other binoculars, including the Pentax DCF ED 8x32 (borrowed), Eagle Optics Ranger 8x32, Zeiss Victory FL 8x42 and Swarovski EL Swarovision Traveler 8x32 (my wife's). The Conquest matched or bested all the above binoculars in visual aspects, except for the Zeiss Victory FL 8x42, where in low light levels, with 42mm objectives, the Victory reveals slightly more detail. Admittedly, including the Eagle Optics Ranger is unfair, given the price differential. But the Ranger did not lag behind the rest of the pack as much as this difference might imply. The Pentax DCF exhibited some color aberration, not apparent in the other four binoculars, and the image was just a tad less sharp than all but the Ranger, where it seemed about equal. The Traveler matched the Conquest in all viewing categories. But with my eyes, the Traveler blacked out even with the eye cups fully extended.
Viewing flowers at 30 feet, the Conquest transfers an image that reveals detail of flowers (Anther, Filament and Stigma) that equaled the Victory and Traveler - simply amazing resolution. The view presented by the Conquest conveys a feeling of walking into a picture.
The Conquest focus from 6 feet to infinity in about one turn ( I wish they focused near to far CCW, as most other of my bins). The diopter setting does not lock, but neither does it reposition in use. At about 22 oz., these binoculars will not strain your arms, nor will the rubber armor slip your grasp.
Zeiss omitted a short list of features, most obvious a locking diopter. But Zeiss concentrated on what matters, great econometrics, solid construction and a spectacular image.
Focus speed preference varies among individuals. The Conquest focuses rapidly. This could challenge some people. Also, in my opinion, the focus could be slightly more damped, But again, this depends on your preference.
Every generation of binoculars offers a step of optical improvement. The Conquest 8x32 perhaps skipped a generation. These binoculars may be, and most likely are, better than my vision. The Conquest also comes with a 5 year no-fault warranty.

The Zeiss Conquest HD 8X32 really brightens up your viewing. It is great for looking deep into trees and understory. Lines are sharp and colors bright. Eye cups are a little different (shorter) than most and take a little to get use too but not a big deal. Nice size for your hand.

Just what I was looking for
Linda from Oregon
I have been birding for about 25 years and started out with Zeiss 10 x 40's which were "top of the line" for the time. I later bought a pair of Eagle Optics Ranger 8 x 42's for butterflying.I discovered that I really liked the Ranger's lighter weight as well as the ease of focus and close focus. The optics were acceptable but I wanted a similar pair with better optics to use as my main binoculars.I'm very happy with the Zeiss Conquest 8 x 32's. They are brighter than either of my other pairs and the image is very sharp.I notice the difference especially wheen looking at birds in the shade such as in the interior of evergreen trees. The focus is smooth and fast, only about 1 1/4 turns from end to end. I have not noticed any downside to this as far as fine focus ability. The close focus is excellent.I originally bought a pair of Swarovski 8 x 32's at over twice the price. They were lighter but the focus locked up completely in less than a month of gentle use and I returned them.Aside from that problem, I like the Zeiss better and they feel more durable. I have good repair experience with Zeiss. I sent in my 10 x 40's twice for focus repair and was not charged either time.

These Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 are extremely sharp and bright. I bought these to replace a pair of B&L 7x26 that I have had for over 20 years, for when I travel on none birding trips. They are small enough to pack easily but the optics are incredible.
