Sharp and clear - 08/13/2015

Brought the binoculars down to the shore of Lake Superior to watch the Wednesday evening sailboat outing. Amazing view! Spent 3 hours watching sailboats, a great lakes cargo ship, the Wisconsin shoreline, and other port activities. Good times!

A Last, a Good, Light Weight 15x50 binocular - 07/28/2013

by Kimball C. from American Samoa

These really reach out and grab information. The field of view and brightness are not on par with an alpha 8x42, of course, so these could be better for twilight use and don't compare in that regard to my 16x70 or 10x70 Fujinons, but the optics are excellent, being bright, sharp and contrasty for daylight use with some fall off at the edges (mostly due to curvature of field). Only two binoculars today don't have that problem, the Swarovski 10x42 Swarovision and the Nikon 10x42 EDG, both about $2400 list. Depth of field is minimal and focusing is and needs to be precise, which some might find difficult. Focusing is a tad stiff, however, but it is not a problem. Each binocular might differ. What is great is good 15X optics in a relatively light weight, small and hand holdable package. Bracing helps but beyond that I feel no need for a tripod. Of all my 16 or so binoculars, including top alpha binoculars by Swarovski, Bushnell and Nikon, these and my Bushnell 12.5x50's get the most use, in reverse order. You can simply get more information about what you are looking at with good powerful binoculars.

Vortex Viper 15x50 - 01/17/2012

by Steve from Eden, UT

I must confess I'm a huge fan of Vortex Optics. I currently own four pair of which none are the typical 10X42 variety. They include 12x42 Vipers, 10x50 Vipers, 15x50 Vipers, and the truly awesome 15x56 Kaibab's. The 15x50's are one of my most used binoculars, The glass is superb the physical size makes them packable for Western hunting.

I owned 15x45 Zeiss Conquest costing almost twice as much. The Vortex 15x50 are just plainly better glass with more light and better resolution. Be prepared to steady these bino's. They are high magnification but the shakes will set in if not supported with a tripod or the barrel of a rifle, stick, tree or something. By the way - they fit just right in a Badlands Bino bag.
