As a novice birder I was confused by the huge range and high price of many of the binoculars available. I purchased these because they were recommended at the local 'birding' store and also by an expert birder in my bird club. I have used them on several outings and love how quickly and clearly they focus, both in the distance and also up close at the feeders in my own yard. I have even taken them to the theatre and find them very effective indoors! They are light weight and convenient to carry and I don't worry about using them on rainy days. The wonderful warranty is a bonus.

I used a pair of Vortex Crossfire 8x42 Binoculars on a kayak trip and was hooked. I liked the quick focus and the ability to use them with eye glasses. They have a bright image and good detail. The pair I used was with a kayak rental, they had a lot of use and still preformed well. I recommend these binoculars for entry level birders, a good value with an excellent warranty.

I am an active birder who bought the Vortex Crossfire as a second pair of binos to keep in the car. They serve this purpose well because they are lightweight, easy to use and provide a high quality optic for the price. I recommend them to beginning birders as a pair of binos that they won't outgrow too quickly.
