Tried the Vanguard 8x42 based on reviews but did not think the difference was that much greater than my current binoculars. Eagle promptly refunded my money, no questions asked. Quality retailer!

Great valur - 05/16/2015

by Jeff W. from Southeast Texas

The Vanguard Spirit 8x42 is a great value. It is extremely clear in the center and the green tint works great in the wooded area. As others have stated it is not perfect on the edges and is very sensitive to perfect focus. You find yourself constantly adjusting the center focus as you move from object to object. Overall, it is a very useful optic device that works and is very reasonable in cost. The weight is good and the case, covers, strap, are all well made and useful. Purchasing from Eagle Optics is a perfect deal with super fast shipping and great customer service.

Great Value For The Price - 07/03/2013

I was amazed at the clarity and image quality of these binoculars. They are easy to handle and appear very well constructed. The drop down optics covers are a great feature. The only negative to me is lack of a numerical index for lateral eyepiece distance adjustment for different users.

Impressive Images - 06/25/2012

Just got back from a road trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota; and am planning a trip to Antarctica. Wanted to replace my inexpensive binoculars with a good waterproof pair for better wildlife viewing. After much research, decided on the Vanguard Spirit ED 8X42. Was worried that they would not get here in time, but Eagle Optics came through with a fast turn around and delivery on the order. The optics are everything advertised - and more. The center wheel quickly brings the subject into focus, important when the subject is on the move. The images are sharp, crisp, and bright - almost 3D. While the Vanguard Spirit ED is full size, it is relatively compact and light for traveling. Very happy with the purchase!

Rather good for a modest price. - 06/19/2012

if you fancy venturing in to the realm of ED binoculars yet wish to do it on a budget these are worthy of consideration. I bought these from a local store which is rare for me as I tend to deal most of the time with E.O. either in the States or Canada. On trying these out and comparing them with other higher priced ED binoculars including models that cost more than four times the price of these I left the store with these in my posession, thats how much they impressed me.
These are good, no very good optics housed in a modern lightweight body, a worthy addition to my collection.
