Love these Bins! - 06/09/2016

by Anne O. from Laurinburg, NC

I just received my new bins in time for the Acadia Birding Festival and I love them! The images are so sharp and focusing is really quick. My previous set, Monarch 5s, did not have the locking diopter feature and I was always having to reset them. These do have the lock and it is sooo nice. I don't think you can beat the quality for the price.

Excellent binoculars - 01/27/2016

by Alan B. from Silver Spring, MD

I bought the binoculars as a Christmas gift for my wife. She loves them! She is participating the Cornell Department of Ornithology's Project Feederwatch. The binoculars are mounted on a tripod in the kitchen (I also bought a tripod adapter), and she uses it to identify the birds in our back yard. The images are satisfyingly bright and sharp!

Great binos - 01/07/2016

by Seth from Alajuela, Costa Rica

I ordered these binoculars to replace some Bushnell H2O 12x42 binos I'd gotten for swallow field-work. I wanted optics that would be more versatile for general birding, since I guide tourists at a resort in Alajuela, Costa Rica. So far the Endeavors have been a fantastic upgrade. The price of the Endeavor II seemed too high for too little difference between this solid, older model. I love the open grip, easy focus wheel, and clarity of vision. The little caps for the bottom lenses can sometimes close themselves on their own, which can be a bit annoying, though this might be a product of using a chest harness. Normally only one of the caps does this at a time. The locking diopter adjustment wheel is always a nice plus. This seems to be one of the best bang-for-buck deals currently available in binos. I also appreciate the very speedy free shipping by Eagle Optics.

Endeavor ED - 11/22/2015

by Eric C. from Hoover Alabama United States

This was my first extra-low dispersion binocular and I was very impressed with the improvement over standard lenses. The color is just amazing. If you don't have ED binoculars and you're wondering if they're worth the investment, let me assure you they are.
These Endeavors have been replaced by the Endeavor II model and I'm sure the new ones are an improvement over the outgoing model, but for the price, these are going to be hard to beat. With a rebate, these were $199.00. Fantastic.
Dealing with Eagle Optics has been a good experience too. Speedy shipping, sturdily packaged, and a bullet-proof return policy. Recommended.

great expectations - 10/17/2015

by Lee P. from Woodside, CA

My wife and I (both retired) live in an urban area on top of a mountain with lots of wild life and many birds. Previously, we were using an very old pair of binoculars that must have been made of lead, difficult to focus, and discouraging to use. That is until the Endeavor arrived. What a surprise! Now we see everything--very close, easy to focus, lightweight and easier to accurately identify birds. It's a good product and you also made it easy to order. Many thanks.

great binoculars at a great price - 09/08/2015

by Michael from Arizona

For 199.99 you can't go wrong. I picked them up for an upcoming elk hunt. Didn't want to spend a lot of money. For the price you can't go wrong. You can definitely buy more expensive binoculars but I'm poor and can't afford expansive things. I'm deffently happy with them. Someday I might upgrade but now I'm happy with my purchase. If you want something affordable I strongly recommend that you have a look at these

Vanguard is excellent value for the money - 09/08/2015

by Alex from Kansas, USA

This is my third Vanguard binocular. I just keep going up in price class over the years. Even on the first two the optics were great so I confidently ordered this one and my expectations were completely satisfied. The optics are great, the grip has a great feel to it, the large focus ring has just the right level of resistance in the smoothness for precise focusing.
Based on my research and experience, Vanguard delivers some of the best value in any class.

VG Endeavor ED 8 x 42 - 08/24/2015

by rod m. from dayton, oh

the above binos are an excellent value. i don't think you will be disappointed 3 months down the road, wishing you had sprung for that really expensive pair. Eagle Optics handled the transaction efficiently and the shipping was quick.

Great Purchase - 07/21/2015

by Ron from Gainesville Fl

I made the perfect choice when I ordered my Edeavor ED 8X42's.

I use them as my "back up" bino's and have them on the end table next to my chair in my "bird room."

I like the optics, the light weight feel, the diopter adjustment lock, the guaranty. They are excellent especially for the price offered.

I have already recommended this product to a couple of my friends.

Great service! - 07/07/2015

by Rhonda B. from Collingswood, NJ

I ordered these binoculars on July 1st and had them in my hands on July 3rd. This is our second pair of Vanguards and we could not be more pleased with them. They meet and exceed our expectations. And Eagle Optics always provides superior service.

Chromatic Aberration - Vanguard Endeavor ED 8420 - 07/02/2015

by Abhijit from Sunnyvale, CA

I wish I had heeded the reviews on Amazon regarding chromatic aberration. So many reviews complaining about color fringing in Vanguard endeavor ED 8420. I thought it must be some older product and that Vanguard must have corrected it. So I bought it and opened it today to see so much purple and green outlines against cloudy background in the evening. Very unhappy. I switched my mind between Vortex diamondback and these several times and thought more expensive means better. So I got greedy and thought ED glass is better than ordinary and $200 here is better than $349 at amazon. Despite continuously reading reviews on every worthy website, scouring internet for 3 days, I still made a poor decision. One more thing, the logo is already slipping from its socket. I can fix it with some glue but then its not worth it. I am just too unhappy since these are my first binoculars ever. I now understand why there were no color fringing complains anywhere on internet for Vortex Diamondback and Carson 3d ed binoculars. I have realized that Vanguard endeavor is basically a low end ED glass. And to buy a better ED glass (Endeavor II with HOYA) they charge you like $300 more. Never Vanguard ever. Rating - Fair - Would NOT purchase again.

Exceptional! Greay value in its price range and above. - 06/23/2015

by Diane L. from Harrisonburg, VA, USA

Great glass, wonderful handling even for smaller hands, eye relief fine for eyeglass wearers. Focus wheel smooth and easily managed when moving between close and distant. My first ED glass bins were the Atlas Intrepid, which I replaced with these Vanguards. The Atlas had good quality glass but was too big/ bulky for my small hands, had much longer focus wheel travel, and the wheel was rough and stiff...not smooth and easy like the Vanguard. The Vanguard surpassed the Atlas by far from my perspective.

SUPER! - 06/04/2015

by Eike H. from SE Wisconsin

I wanted binoculars for a cruise. I asked a friend, a VERY experienced and very well equipped big game hunter and guide; he mostly uses Swarowski (which I can't afford). He recommended to me average Joe to look at Nikon's Monarch binoculars.

In my own research I stumbled over lots of praise for the Vanguard 8x42 that I found on Eagle Optics for a bit less than a Monarch 8x40 on ebay.

I bought the Vanguard because Eagle Optics offered a 30 day money back guarantee.

Then I asked my friend to take a look though the new binos and his spontaneous response was: "Wow, I am IMPRESSED". Thank you John K. and thank you Eagle Optics.

In the meantime I am back from the cruise and all I can say is:

. These are the last binoculars I will ever need.

Everybody who used them was impressed and one guy said they ruined his liking of his binos!

Happy With These - 01/13/2015

by Sam L. from West Chester, PA

For many years I used B&L Zephers 8X30, which were my grandfathers from the forties. I found them to be perfectly good for birdwatching and horse racing, the things I use bins for. But, a friend told me how much better modern ones are so I bought these Vanguards and it is true. They are sharp and clear and gather light well early or late in the day. They are a little heavier than the Zephers (and I wouldn't want heavier) but fulfill my needs just fine. Very nice at a reasonable price.

Why did I wait so long? - 12/03/2014

by Chris from Greensburg, PA

I've been using a pair of Bushnell 16x32's forever and my friends have been telling me to upgrade for years. I'm so glad that I finally did. These are great binoculars. The image is so bright and clear and I really like the better field of view. Money well spent.

Sparrows up Close - 10/30/2014

by Mike H. from Grand Junction, CO

I own a pair of Vortex 10x42 Razor which I like and use for much of my birding. I also do a lot of birding for wintering sparrows, which are often seen at short range in dense shrubbery. I find my Vanguard Endeavor ED 8x42 binoculars ideal for quick focusing on birds in the brush and being able to follow their movements. The wide field of view and quick focusing wheel allows me to get on the small birds and hold them in focus. I find the clarity excellent as I follow the birds through the branches and twigs at close range. In addition I like being able to lock the eye pieces in various positions, which allows me to put on my glasses and make notes, while still being able to focus on a bird that suddenly pops into view. I find my Vanguard Endeavor ED 8x42 binoculars to be ideal for short and mid-range birding and an excellent value for the money.

Huge Bargain! - 08/20/2014

by C.O.S. from Cape May,NJ

I own a pair of Vanguard Endeavor ED 8x42 binoculars as well as a pair of Vanguard Spirit ED 8x42 binoculars. While both seem well made and their specs are similar(the Endeavors have a more generous F.O.V. but are 3ozs. heavier) the Endeavor is superior optically to the Spirit ED. The Endeavor ED 8x42's are a bargain at $349.99 but to have them priced at $10 less than the Spirit ED 8x42's makes them an extraordinary bargain. If you are in the market for a great starter binocular or a very serviceable every day binocular buy these before they are gone and the new Endeavor EDII's cost double this $289.99 dollars.

Crisp and Clear - 07/22/2014

by Jason from Des Moines

I bought these binoculars back during the $50 mail in rebate. In class I was using Nikon Monarchs. These binoculars are far better! The open bridge feel, plus the stunning optics for the price is well worth it. I have not noticed many issues with these optics if at all.

Pros-
•Open bridge design
•Great optical quality
•Nice case and strap
•Unlimited warranty
•Price

Cons-
•Made in China

Vanguard endeavor ED 8x42 - 06/27/2014

by Keren T. from marthas vineyard ma

I'm a bit of a novice but I made the right choice in this model for bird watching. Great light gathering - can see late into dusk. Great customer service from Vanguard when I lost a part. I trust this brand.

binoculars for birds & lizards - 05/30/2014

by sandra A. from Arizona

My husband had binoculars that the Road Show would be interested in evaluating. Bird Watchers Digest recommended the Vanguard and that was good enough for me. I told my husband they were for the car, but after trying them on out on the porch looking at a lizard and a bird he commented how much brighter they were and how he could focus on things up close and far off easier. The old binoculars are finally retired.

Great Value - 05/29/2014

by Jeff W. from United States

Good binos for birding. Great price-point for the quality. I especially like the lifetime guarantee.

good glass - 05/28/2014

by Lynn from Indianapolis

Good glass for the price--bright, sharp, feels good in the hand. A little on the heavy side but I knew that from the detailed specs.

Excellent - 05/27/2014

by JSCjr from Maryland, USA

Settled on these as my first quality birding binocular, and after three weeks behind the ocular I'm very happy with them. Clear, bright views, with no sign of CA to my eyes (this has been the only criticism I've ever seen of this model), and wonderful ergonomics. I even like the neon green trim. :)

At the current price after rebate, it doesn't seem possible to go wrong, although the price may yet continue to drop as Vanguard rolls out their ED II models.

Vanguard Endeavor ED 8x42 Binocular - 05/27/2014

by Lucy L. from Iowa

A great pair of binoculars. Very easy to adjust with excellent clarity and no distortion. I like the fact that they are waterproof - a reason for purchasing them if I am out in a drizzle! I definitely recommend them.

Best deal going right now. - 05/14/2014

by Shawn D. from Denton, Texas

Having had the good fortune of looking thru dozens of binoculars from $25 Bushnells to $2500 Swarvoskis and several in between, I can whole heartedly endorse these endeavors as the best deal in binoculars at this time. Many customers have compared them with the Nikon Monarch and the Eagle optics ranger. The Endeavors are superior in every way. They do weigh a little more but not so much to be an issue. I purchased the 8x42 model thru eagle optics while they had a great deal going. But even at the regular price you will be hard pressed to find a pair as good as these at the same price. If $2500 Zeiss or Swarvoskis are out of your price range, then do yourself a favor and get these. You will not be disappointed. As I said, I purchased thru Eagle Optics and you simply will not find a friendlier, more knowlegable customer service department out there.

Vanguard Endeavor ED 8x42 - 05/04/2014

by Kenny G. from Evansville, IN

Bought these during Christmas sale. Absolutely wonderful for the money. Has excellent centerfield clarity and very good eye relief for eyeglass wearers like myself. Feels good in hands and I love the 3 quarter turn from close to infinity of the focus. Two thumbs up on this fine binocular!

Excellent Quality - 04/29/2014

by Melissa M. from Broomfield, CO

I upgraded from an $80 pair of Bushnells that served me well. I got these Vanguard's at a great sale price, but even at full price I would be satisfied. Very clear, bright image, quick to focus, seem durable. Locking diopter setting is a nice change for me since it stays where I set it. I have small hands and these are comfortable to use for long days in the field. As an added bonus, the case is very nice and functional and holds both the binoculars and an attached binocular harness.

Great Binoculars - 02/28/2014

by Elizabeth F. from United States

I wanted to give my husband a new pair of binoculars for his birthday and had no idea what to buy. An accomplished birdwatcher friend told me what to look for and the meaning of the specifications. My husband is very pleased. He uses the Vanguards for bird watching. They adjust easily, are not too heavy, and provide great clarity and true color in the field.

Good Value - 01/23/2014

by Mike from KY

Very good optics for this price range, well built, feel solid and good in hands. Even though these are not my best binocs, I like to use them for everyday and travel.
