Can glass get better? - 08/24/2015

by Nils from Tucson

I own a Fujinon 7x50 FMT, and these porro's blew me away when I bought them. Excellent glass, and depth of field is obviously without peer. At night the Fuji is still ideal because no focusing is required in the dark (harder to get a good focus with a roof-prism at night), and their light gathering is insane. However, the 10x50 SV adds qualities that have to be experienced. The "In the picture" feeling and overall image quality is un-matched in all the testing I have done. Eye positioning is perfect, with the multi-adjustable eye cups. They are also very easy to hold steady for 10x and very bright.
Even field of view is impressive for a 10x and following flying birds isn't an issue at all. The view is just "Easy."
Unless you are into really small bino's for weight savings, I think the upgrade from 42mm to 50mm objectives is very useful in a 10x and the bigger objective was noticeably more pleasing to my eye than its smaller brother the 10x42 SV.

Very Happy - 09/19/2014

The binoculars are sturdy and crystal clear. They are a little on the heavy side. My wife's 10x42 are a more practical size and weight. Eagle shipped exactly as stated. Very happy overall.

Extraordinary - 12/18/2012

by David from Virginia

Birders get more use out of their binoculars than any other binocular-use activity. Hunters and sports watchers use binoculars, but not like birders, so I feel this justifies having a decent pair. I had a very decent pair of binocs for about two decades -- the Leica 8x42 Trinovid. When I bought those many years ago, I justified the cost of $1100 by amortizing it over a lifetime. The old Leicas are outstanding and they held up over the years without any problems. In fact, I dropped the Leica Trinovids for the first time a month ago on the deck of a boat, and I thought they were ruined for sure, however they are still good as new.

There was really no compelling reason to buy a new pair of binoculars until I tested the Swarovision series and the Leica Ultravid HD series. Both are unbelievable -- glass even better than the old Leicas, and much closer focus range than the old Leicas. The image quality is phenomenal -- noticeably better, although the new Leicas optics are just as good. It was a difficult choice between the new Leica Ultravids and Swarovision EL, but I chose the latter because of the incredibly fine focus granularity of the Swarovskis. It can sometimes take a little longer to initially find the focus on an object with the Swarovskis, but worth the trouble because of the clarity of the image when it is in focus. In dense cover, the focus granularity can be adjusted for objects with resolution of just a few inches fore and aft, which allows you to stay on the object and ignore everything else that is blurred out of focus. I do not know if that makes sense the way I have articulated it, but I feel the fine focus capability provides a distinct advantage for birding.

Like I said it was a tough decision because I am a big fan of Leica for durability and top of the line image/glass quality. Really, it is a draw between the Swarovision EL and Leica Ultravid HD series.

Swarovski are the best binocs - 07/24/2012

by Greg from Democratic Republic of the Congo

This is my second pair of Swarovski Binoculars bought from Eagle Optics. The quality of Swarovski is unprecedented. My first pair of Swarovskis had some damage to the eye cups and they were immediately repaired under warranty after 15 years! Amazing. The best binocs for viewing late afternoon or in low light and very clear and charp image.

best binoculars ever - 01/18/2012

by ryan from lewiston, idaho

Swarovski makes the best optics by far. I am an avid hunter and shed hunter. I can spot horns with ease now that I have my 10x50 el swarovision binoculars. Eagle optics was very easy to deal with and I got my binoculars within days.
