Great for starters! - 01/18/2011

Can ten-dollar (at the present reduced price) binoculars be worth anything at all? You bet they can. I certainly have not seen anything in this price range that I would equally recommend. Sure, there are many limitations, like a somewhat yellowish cast. But these binoculars are quite sturdy, and they have a comfortable feeling about them. The slight padding prevents getting cold hands from touching metal parts. I think these binoculars could probably take some beating from being thrown around by a kid. Though they are definitely not water resistant or sand proof. They have a very fine close focussing distance, and they are perfect for little kids' hands. The double hinge allows adjustment even to the narrowest interpupillary distance. The fold-down rubber eyecups make them suitable for eyeglass wearers, though one does lose a little of the field of view. And finally, I think the various bright colors should appeal to young kids whether they favor a particular team or not.
