Nikon Pro Staff 8X25 ATB Binocular - 02/22/2010

I purchased these in order to pick up a second compact binocular. My first pair was a Nikon Travelite which is still available online at $10-20 dollars less. I much prefer these Pro Staffs which are now waterproof, nitrogen purged, and most importantly, offer a wider field of view that the Travelites. This is very noticeable. The image is bright (given aperature) and crisp to the edge. The Pro Staff feels nice in the hands too as did the Travelites. They are very comfortable and the optics are top notch.

Good affordable compacts - 08/19/2009

I got these to replace and older pair of 8x21 Bushnell binoculars that I had been using. The Prostaff is a huge step up.

Image clarity is good for the size and price, the weight and size are just what I was looking for in a take with me everywhere binocular. The close focus is good enough for birding in the woods and the reverse porro design gives us much more out of the 25mm lenses than a roof design of the same diameter.

On the downside, the FOV isn't huge, the waterproofing does add some weight over the Travelite series and looking even near light sources produces a washed out white ring around your vision.

In all, a good binocular for its purpose.

Excellent binoculars for the money. - 07/09/2009

Great for humid climates. The porro prism design is slighty more bulky than compact roof prisms. Smooth focus, nice optics and waterproof make these a outstanding value in this price range. If you live in a drier climate and want to save a few dollars i recommend the Nikon Travelite V series, similar optics and not waterproof they are a great deal also. Always great customer service at Eagle Optics! Carl
