Great optics, and comfortable in the hands - 03/30/2013

by Karen J. from Central CA

The quality of the binoculars are excellent. They are a joy to use. The one downside is the lens covers are too big and so fall off. It's annoying on that price range of equipment to have such a simple thing be so wrong. We tried ordering a second pair of covers that your staff recommended, but they are actually a little too small. Would have been nice to have a better solution to the one problem with the purchase. We like them enough to put up with the lens caps, but it is tempting to return them.

Superb ergonomics, excellent optics. - 01/23/2013

by Jon F from Pasadena, CA

I've been using either the earlier and heavier Venturer (optically identical) and Premier LX-L for well over a decade and have never been let down. The ergonomics and focus mechanism are second to none. Optically, they perform extremely well compared to optics costing much more. The image is as sharp as you could hope for and flat field- lack of distortion at the edges- is very good. They feel just right in the hands. Highly recommended, especially given the (relatively) bargain price.

These binoculars are great! As the song goes, "I can see forever". My husband has his own pair of binoculars, and he uses mine all the time because he says his aren't as good or as clear as mine. They can get a little heavy, so I bought a special strap that takes the load off my neck. Overall an excellent pair of binoculars and I recommend them to everyone.

love them - 04/17/2010

by vicki from houston

When I heard Nikon was closing out this line I bought my second pair. I love them and the price is great for a really nice binocular. GREAT light gathering- I can use them in dim light settings, early morning and evenings. They are light weight reducing neck strain. Have quick easy finger focus.

Nikon Premier 8X42 binocular - 03/31/2010

by Patricia from Rockledge, Fl

I am very impressed with these binocs. They gather a lot of light even in dim circumstances, and are amazingly bright. Another aspect that I really like is that they adjust and focus quickly for me, much better than my prior binocs. I thought they were a great deal for the cost.

NIKON Premier 8x42 - Excellent Quality & Value - 03/28/2010

by Dr. J.B. Webb from Austin, TX

I purchased these for use in monitoring/observing (birds/mammals) for the National Park Service & Texas Aududon Society. They have clarity & brilliance, excellent in low-light environment. The staff @ Eagle Optics is great in offering guidance RE applications. They are light & a joy to use!

What a Bargain - 03/26/2010

by Dan Gertiser from Commerce Twp MI

Saw these on sale, and wow. My wife uses them and she loves them. She won't let me use them though. She said I wouldn't use my Leicas anymore if I saw how good they are.

Great view, great guarantee, and wow, what a great price.

BTW, this is an unsolicited review I have no connection with Eagle Optic other than being a satisfied customer.

Spec correction and Five Stars - 02/02/2010

by John Hiles from Monterey, CA

I suspect that this Nikon is a renamed LX L 8x42. If so, the field spec is wrong. Mine are marked 7 degrees and that comes to about 368 feet at 1000 yards. I didn't want anyone considering a very fine value to be put off by what may be a typo. Check with the helpful staff at E.O. to confirm the field of view. I really have enjoyed this binocular for the last three years and recommend it for birding, nature, and general use. Ergonomics, optics, and finish are comparable to other top of the line binocs (Z, L, and Sw) available over the past 3-5 years.

Very Satisfied Owner - 12/23/2009

by Charles Bethel from Maryland

I have owned this binocular for about 2 1/2 years (the model name may have changed since then). Bought for birding, I've also used it for many sporting events. I purchased it without hands-on comparisons with competing brands, except for Leica, but have no regrets. I've had Nikon camera gear for years and trust their optics. Most outstanding features for me are brightness, speed and accuracy of focusing, feel of the binocular in the hands, and overall build quality. I'm a glasses wearer and find the setup perfect, in that when looking through the binocular I'm not aware I'm wearing them. Most friends who try them after only using "good" binoculars say "Wow!", which is what I said when I first looked through them.

Nikon Premier - 08/25/2009

by John Groves from El Paso, TX

I just got the Nikon 8x42 Premier binocular and am extremely satisfied. This is a re-branding of the familiar Nikon LXL line of binoculars and retains all of the specs. Apparently when Nikon added the EDG to their product line they renamed the LXL simply calling it Premier.
The 8x42 has an eye relief of 20 mm which is ideal for those of us with deep-set eyes and glasses. Other features are the silky-smooth focus knob. These bins are FAST! From close in to infinity take less than a full turn. I'm on fast-moving warblers faster than any of my colleagues. The resolution is outstanding and crisp from center to edge and the flat-field performance is possibly the best in the industry. For general birding I prefer this bino to any I've tried and I've looked through a lot!
