Very happy with my binos.....even more happy with the seller! - 11/19/2012

by Skyler W. from Illinios

I am a bargain shopper, on everything and these binos were no exception. These binos truly maximized the value of my money. I exhausted my search down to the Minox BVII 8x42 and the Vortex Diamondbacks 8X42. I really needed to put my hands on the glass and look through it to make my final decision, but I had no where near me that had both pair. I exhausted checking the details looking for something that would tip the scales. I called Vortex directly to ask a question and when they could not answer it they forwarded me on to Michael McDowell at Eagle Optics. I did not know at first that I was speaking to a dealer of many optics products, rather than someone from Vortex. This ended up being the best thing that happened to me.

Mike gave me all the time in the world and answered all my questions. Best of all he gave me a number to call him back on and it was not an automated answering service! (I hate that) He bent over backwards to help me, and because of that I will never buy glass or accessories from anywhere else. He actually went and pulled both pairs and gave me his expert opinion and evaluation of both on the spot! I tried the same with Optics Planet and it took 10 minutes for the girl to even figure out that the Minox I was looking at were binos and not a scope, and when I asked if she could pull them from a shelf for her personal evaluation....she laughed.

I miss the local corner hardware store and I curse every time I have to drive to Home Depot. Eagle Optics and especially Michael McDowell are the closest thing to REAL service that I have experienced in years, just like the old hardware store!

Enough said on that, now to the binos.

I was worried about the size and weight because I am a Midwest bow hunter, primary whitetail. A lot of guys said to go with an 8X32 instead of 8X42, but I wanted better low light performance and was willing to compromise on size. I was very pleased with the compact size and weight. They are never an issue, and the harness that EO threw in for free keeps them out of the way but always at my finger tips. They are crystal clear, and have great low light performance. I actually glass my turnip patch in the dark pre-dawn with a little moonlight to make sure I am not spooking anything on my way in. The rubber coating has a great feel, and definitely makes them super durable. I used these for over a month now and they are holding up great. I did lose the front screw in cover for the tripod mount, but I have not been ginger with them at all. I plan on contacting EO to see about a replacement and would not be surprised if it was at no charge.

Overall I am super satisfied with my purchase of Minox BVII 8X42, and also very happy I purchased them from Eagle Optics.

Thanks to Michael McDowell at Eagle Optics!

Germany moves to the far east - 06/19/2012

by DAVE from Ontario Canada

These are built to Minox,s specifications in the far east however no need to worry that you aren,t getting a made in Germany glass. They are oustanding in their price range, everything operates smoothly and the finish is very good, the views are sharp, crisp and clear, this has become one of my favourite binoculars, IMHO their is nothing better out there in its price range.
