Terrific Binocular for the Money - 11/11/2011

by Kimball from United States

This is a superior binocular, made in Japan, and worth significantly more than its price. It has great ease of focusing and its color saturation, brilliance, contrast and balanced, wide view are reminiscent of the Swarovski EL 10x42, but it lacks that binocular's low light capabilities, which is no surprise. It presents an integrated, coherent view like that Swarovski and does not emphasize sharpness at the expense of color saturation or brilliance. It is a chunky, but a compacted binocular. Like the Swarovski, there is a very slight feel of graininess in the focus. It is no Nikon Venturer HG in that regard, but nothing is. Its coatings reflect next to nothing. Its case is well made and a step up, but much too large. The Eagle Optics small case is better, but I cut the inside pocket out to ease insertion without snagging. The too thin strap is for a light weight compact binocular and doesn't fit the binocular's larger body slots. I swapped that out too. The rainguard and objective covers fit well and are superior. The warranty is for defective materials or workmanship for the lifetime of the original purchaser. This binocular is clearly a keeper and will get much use, I am sure.
