Eagle Optics NEW Ranger ED 8x42 Binocular
Harry from United States
I ordered these binoculars based on the overwhelmingly favorable reviews I found on the internet. I ordered them one evening and they arrived 2 days later. Great service from Eagle Optics. From my research, I expected them to be good, and I was not disappointed. The fit, quality of construction and optical quality are superb. I have never used a binocular at this price point that I thought were better than the Ranger ED. They are all I hoped they would be and then some. Add Eagle Optics lifetime warranty, and the Ranger ED binocular is a real winner!
EO Never Fails to Impress

I have spent many years viewing wildlife, either for personal enjoyment or as my time as a Wildlife Biologist. I first got a taste of EO with the original Ranger 8X42 binoculars in an Ornithology class in college. Needless to say I was hooked. A few years later I got to use a pair of EO Denali 8X42s on a Sharp-tailed Grouse research program. Thus it took only a short time to wait until the new Ranger ED 8X42 binoculars came out. I got a pair right away and have never looked back. Compared to other optics in this price range (Leupold BX-2 Cascades, Vortex Viper, and Zeiss Terra ED) these are exceptionally bright. It never seems like there is too little of light looking for birds early in the morning. These binoculars are extremely comfortable and the focus wheel is 'grippy' and has just the right 'tension' that allows for quick but then subtle focusing. I know this optic will keep me viewing crystal clear wildlife for years to come (until I decide to drop even more money for another EO product).
Good value for Price

Hi, this is the third pair of Eagle Optics 8x42 I have purchased for myself and family members. They fit my hands beautifully, are easy to focus, good in dim light and love the wide field for birding. Just wish you would ship them in something other than Styrofoam pellets!

I purchased these for my father because he loved a pair that I got myself. They're great!

Purchased the NEW Ranger binoculars for a trip to Kenya. Liked them so much at the last minute ordered a pair for my husband. The second pair arrived in time and we both loved being able to use them. Shared them with others on the trip and they, too, were impressed with weight, ease of focusing, comfort in hands and clarity of images even in low light.

Amazing binoculars at an amazingly low price! There, commercial over. Seriously, I love these binoculars. A birder friend of my tried them and commented on the optical clarity - - we were in agreement that it is excellent. Her only comment was that they were a 'bit heavy'. To me heavy lends itself to a feeling of durability. Buy these, stop shopping and go birding!

Optical quality is a very good value; however, not a very wide field of view.
Unfortunately, for my face shape, it was not easy to quickly find the image and maintain it using these binoculars... I have a 55 mm IPD and wear glasses... So it's not been easy to find binoculars that readily fit my face shape.

I purchased the "NEW" eagle Optics Ranger ED 8x42 binoculars and I couldn't be happier. I had been wanting to upgrade my binoculars for a long time and looked at all the major brands. I was about to buy the Vortex Diamond back. Customer service at Eagle Optics suggested I look into the "NEW" Eagle Ranger Ed. I did and am glad at that. I use them mainly for hunting (I also have a Vortex Viper scope on my rifle) and event watching. I have recommended Eagle binoculars (and Vortex rifle scopes) to several people.
Love these binoculars!!!

I purchased these binoculars about a month ago, and am totally happy with them so far. I ordered them from Eagle Optics online and received them about two days later, so very fast turnaround for shipping!
Before purchasing, I researched what type of binoculars were recommended for birding, and similar activities, and found I was quite a novice on the subject! The Cornell Lab of Ornithology website was a great help, contained reviews with a wealth of general information, as well as breaking down the recommendations by price range - very useful overall. For me the standout in my price range was the Eagle Optics 8x42 Ranger, and everywhere else I researched I found positive feedback also.
The Ranger ED is a step up from the one I saw reviewed, and after using them for a month I am happy with my choice - they are sharp, easy to use, very comfortable to hold, not too heavy, work well in lower light, and with my glasses. The strap is very soft and comfortable around my neck, and I love that they come with both front and back lens covers, and a carrying case.
I believe these are binoculars I can use for a very long time without feeling I need to upgrade, and that makes me very happy!
It is what it is

I purchased the ED8x42 for viewing sporting events. It replaced a 7x35 wide angle bino that was stolen out of my house. The optical acuity is excellent. The comfort of using it to watch sports is not good. I would not recommend this bino for viewing sporting events. I would recommend a 7x35 wide angle bino.
