Optics fine & great value but .. - 06/09/2013

by David T. from Bristol, UK

I ordered these as a lightweight pair for ease of use & carrying - main pair are Vortex Razors (great). First pair delivered were actually 6.5x32 in a sealed 8.5 box! - apart from that these were optically fine but one of the eye-cups was very loose. This was replaced with a pair of 8.5 as ordered which had been 'checked by an Eagle engineer'. Again, optics were fine (& eye-cups too) - but the focus adjustment is very uneven - focusing closer is smooth but focusing further away has much more resistance (enough to require more than one finger to move the knob). So great value, light weight and bright clear optics - but dodgy quality control. Would buy again but only if I could select a pair that feels right to me.

Nice binocs for kids - 05/21/2013

by Robert S. from Michigan

These are decent binoculars for young birders - not too expensive and the optics are quite good. I bought them for my grandson, age 6, and the binocs are still just a little too large for his hands. His fingers really have to stretch to reach the focusing nob, but he'll grow into them. The price and quality are right for a good pair of "starter" binoculars.

high quality and compactness - 07/31/2012

by Donald from Lawrence, KS

The Kingbird 8.5 x 32 fits my need well for a fairly compact, lightweight binocular without any significant sacrifice in power, field, and clarity. It rides handily in my vest and comes equipped w. good protective caps. I recommend this binocular for all these qualities as well as perfect adaptability for somebody who wears glasses, as I do. Did I mention the great price in a market where such is uncommon for a high-quality binocular?

Ben's Birthday Surprise - 07/24/2012

by Grandma from Delaware

For the past year we have watched our grandson develop an interest in birding as a result of his 3rd grade Natural History class (led by a teacher who loves and enjoys the outdoors and nature). Whenever he visits we venture out together to bird watch - he has feeders in his own yard and takes responsibility for cleaning and filling. The Eagle Optics Kingbird binoculars were our gift to him for his 9th birthday - highly recommended by a dear friend - another birder - who had recently purchased Eagle Optics binoculars. Ben will be taking his new gift to Block Island where his family will be vacationing.

The Kigbird is perfect for a youngster - easy to adjust, light and waterproof. Happy Birding Ben!

Great youth binocular - 02/22/2012

by Brian from Oregon

The Kingbird 8.5x32 is a great youth binocular. I own a set of Ranger platinum 10x42 and was looking for a beginner set of light weight binoculars with decent optics for my 10 year old son who is an avid birder. The weight and size are great for smaller hands and I was surprised at the image clarity and brightness for their price. The attached objective lens covers and rain guard are added pluses.

Excellent for any age! - 08/09/2011

by Tiffanie from Oak Harbor, Ohio

My eight year old daughter was given this binocular and she loves them. I tried hers a few times during the spring songbird migration and I was hooked! They are a great size, easy to focus, lightweight and very comfortable to wear. I plan to purchase a third binocular for my husband and I have already recommeded this to friends who have recently started birding. The price is very reasonable. This binocular is excellent for any age!
