I asked for advice on the best fit to my 10x42 binoculars that had finally broken after many years of service and I wanted to upgrade to better optics. The Eagle Optics Golden Eagle HD 10x42 Binocular fit the bill at a reasonable price for this quality. Right out of the box, my first impression was these were much brighter than anything I owned in the past. I like the contoured feel of the binoculars in my hands and appreciated the added extras of lens covers on both ends, plus the neck-comfortable straps which easily support the reasonable weight of the binoculars. I find the focusing a bit stiff, but that might be because my old pair was rather sloppy on focusing. I look forward to many years of good service. Oh, also, Eagle Optics is a great dealer for service with exceptionally quick delivery at no extra charge.
Eagle Optics Golden Eagle HD 10x42 Binocular

I live in a desert area near the largest river in the State of Idaho. There are hundreds of springs of water coming out near the base of the miles long cliff in the area so many birds, including ducks, like to winter here, as well as deer and many other types of wildlife. It's called the 'Thousand Springs' area. Anyway I needed a good birding binocular as well as for just carrying along while hiking. These Eagle Optics Golden Eagle HD 10x42 Binocular work great for that purpose! They are not overly large and the optics are really clear and sharp and true to color. I have compared them to other much more expensive binoculars and I cannot detect a difference! They work great for me! Also as a note of interest, printed on the left barrel just below the hinge is the word 'Japan'!
Great image, field of view, and light

After much research, we settled on the Golden Eagle HD 10x42 and couldn't be happier. On a recent trip to Alaska we compared this binocular with an older set of binoculars we've had for years, and the difference was dramatic in terms of image quality, field of view, and amount of light. We'd decided that the HD glass and coatings were all important, but we were on the fence as to whether to get the 10x50 model instead, in order to get a bigger exit pupil (i.e., more light). Finally, after reading of the decrease in peoples' maximum pupil opening as they age, and that anything over an exit pupil of about 4 would be wasted on people over 50, we settled on the Golden Eagle 10x42. Great choice!

As a college student I couldn't afford these binoculars, but I bought them anyway. I needed a pair that was light weight, compact, and with great contrast. The Golden Eagles delivered and were better than I expected: Smooth adjustable eyecups, quick focus (makes for quick scans), perfect size, and whatever you are focused on seems to pop out at you. The field of view is a little smaller than the Vortex Talons, but the trade offs are worth it. I based my purchase off the Vortex Viper reviews which are identical except with a green casing. I use these extensively for field work (bird & mammal surveys) and will soon test them out in the tropics for an extended period with no fear (because of the Platinium warranty provided).
