Celestron Granite 10x42 binoculars - 12/31/2015

by Brett E. from MT

These Celestron Granite 10x42 binoculars are extremely good for the price. I had a previous pair of Celestron binoculars and loved them. They surpass other mid-range binoculars, but you're not paying extra for the name brand. Eagle Optics was easy to deal with and hassle free.

Granite 10x42 - 11/26/2013

by Martin W. from California

I have owed different a few different types of binoculars and have been a amateur photographer preferring Minolta equipment. What you have here is a very good pair of optics for a decent price. They are smaller than the average pair of 10x50's, more like standard 8x32's, with exceptional clarity, much better than standard 10x50's. They function well and easily pack away in a glove box compartment. You could pay less, I have, and get less (read fuzzy) and bigger and/or heavier. The thing is I have above average vision and these complement what I am used to seeing with my own eyes but at a distance and these do that very well. If you want more specific features such as water repellent lens coatings or a specific (read greater) diopter range you can pay more... but you won't get a 2x better image by paying 2x more... maybe 3% or even 10% better for paying 2 to 7 times as much for similar 10x42's.

I have received my celestron binos and I can only tell you how happy I am with what I got. The clarity is amazing, and they are easy to handle, not heavy. I am going to enjoy these for a long, long time with my bird watching activities. Price was awesome for the product, so I say you will be satisfied.

Bright - 07/17/2012

As a 10X42 Granite owner and 30 year birder, Iā€™m favorably impressed. Image is bright, clear, and colors are sharp. Granite excels in low light and seems to have a pretty good depth of field. If I search for it, there is a barely noticeable loss of sharpness at the edge of the image, but at this price point I just enjoy the excellent views.

Granite is fairly compact for a 10X binocular, fairly lightweight and comfortable in the hand. I find it easy to lock onto a bird with these binoculars. Build seems solid and focus is smooth and quick ā€“ no sloppiness for me.

Nice features include interior objective lens caps that flip down easy and detach easily, possibly too easy to rely on them to stay put while in the field, but great for keeping dirt out while on daily duty at the kitchen table. Granite also comes with a lightweight shoulder harness. Looks a bit cheesy, but it has been working well for me. Recommended for performance AND value ā€“ even familiar birds look extra sharp.

Nice sturdy frame, integral objective covers a nice touch. Surprisingly bright with a wonderful close focus. Sharp out to the edges, entire fov usable. Nothing else at this price point comes close. Celestron has a winner here.
