Bushnell H20 10x42 Roof Prism Binocular

The image in these binoculars is better than you might think, given the price range. I use these as "feeder" binoculars and as a loaner pair when my kids or their friends accompany us on birding and camping trips. The central image is bright and sharp. Good for around 100 yds or less, where most birding occurs. There is some distortion around the edges, but not bad. I wear glasses, and think the eye relief is good. On the not-so good side, the eye cups tend to twist themselves up or down when taken from the case, and the right eye focus adjustment is too stiff. The image is not as good as the image in my Steiners or Celestron binoculars, but those both have phase coated optics and cost more. Great budget binoculars for general use or beginning birding. The waterproof seal and soft rubber armor make them rugged enough for field use by not-so careful users (kids). If you are upgrading, though, I'd try to get something with phase coated optics.
