15 years later, elites still rock - 08/30/2013

by Joe G. from Arden, NC

I bought a pair of B&L 10X42 Elites 15 years ago...or more and recently purchased a new pair and they are not surprisingly better than my old binos. Very crisp with good color and definition for birding. It was a steal of a deal at $500.

An Excellent Deal: Buy It and See - 01/04/2012

by Kimball from United States

The price is sliding up everywhere on this binocular as people realize it is a serious alpha binocular and at price that is still a truly excellent buy. I have done a hard, side by side comparison of this binocular to my Swarovski EL 10x42 WB on BirdForum.net under Bushnell- Bausch & Lomb, and can say that on balance this binocular and the Swarovski are about equally desirable, although I prefer this one because it seems significantly lighter and smaller and because its ergonomics is better and focusing is smoother and optically faster. On both, the optics are truly superior, but not sharp edge to edge as only the new Swarovski EL 10x42 Swarovision and Nikon 10x42 EDG are, but at prices over $2,000. Still this is a great binocular and I highly recommend it.

re-match - 07/12/2011

by Glenn from Australia

I read the review the reviewer that said these came in 3rd place on BWF and the elites they tested were 3 generations back from this newest ED version - so my point is these will be even better again if they were put up against the others again.

They Live Up to the Name - 02/14/2011

by Ronnie from South Mississippi

I've used Elites since they had the Baush & Lomb name on them. My everyday glasses are fifteen year old 8x42's. I bought the 10x42s for coastal and pelagic birding. I'm thrilled at the balance and the the smooth focus of these binos. I wear glasses and these have eye relief to spare. The magnesium barrels make these new 10s lighter than my old 8s. Focus is sharp and VERY bright. I'm thrilled with this new edition. I can't wait to get in some weather and test the new water-dispersion coating on the lenses.
I'm thinking about shopping for a new pair of 8x42s!

Bargain for top rated bino! - 09/28/2010

by John from Wilton, CT

Bird Watchers Digest gave two >$1,900 binos the top ratings of 49 points. Number 3 was this bino at the then price of $800!! It was rated at 46, a minor difference. They perform beautifully and everyone I have asked to try them has agreed. The field of view is slightly larger than my previous binos, the Celestron Regal LS 10x42, which I still like.

Only two minor complaints: the diopter adjustment can't be done with one hand; it's very stiff. Also the screw-up eyepieces get rubbed back down at the sleightest touch. I put rubber bands in the gap to solve the problem.

Caution: don't throw away the short strap attachments included. There is no mention of them in the short instructions that I can find. Only just figured out what they are for. As the binos don't use a loop to attach the neck strap to the bino, you need those two short straps to hook up to your over the shoulders harness.

Excellent Service - 06/07/2010

by John from Kentucky

I recently purchased 2 pairs of these binoculars for use at work. They have a very sturdy feel and seem very nice optically. The focusing knob works well and they fit my eyes very well. We'll see how they do after a couple of long field seasons, but for now I like them very much.

I'd also like to thank Eagle Optics for it's continuing amazing level of service. When someone at my office misplaced this package, Eagle Optics went above and beyond helping us track down the package. I'll never purchase optics anywhere else!!!
