Brunton Eterna 11x45 Binocular Review - 05/25/2012

by Scott from Allentown PA

These binoculars were purchased for birdwatching specifically. For the price, they easily match binoculars costing many hundreds more. They are bright, crisp, and easy to handle. The twist-up eyecups are perfect for me, as I can adjust the diopter and use them without my eyeglasses. I would highly recommend these optics to someone who doesn't have thousands to spend.

Brunton Eterna 11x45 bino-camo model - 12/13/2009

by R W from mn

A solid contender with higher end competitors but at a much lower price. This roof design is about 28-30 oz but is still somewhat compact in hand at 6x5 inches, even tho the objectives are a generous 45mm. Optics are super but it is best for longer viewing such as lakeshore, raptors and wide open spaces.Works well with a tripod too. Eleven power is too much for closein backyard and heavy cover birding(they do have a more appropriate 8x45 as well).I found the 11x steady enough for what I need, and the 4.1 exit pupil just fine for a retired guys eyes. Eye cups twist up/down in stages so those with glasses will be happy too. Controls are firm, quick and well made.Down sides:(1) the very smooth and hard camo cover-no pebble finish so the grip is mediocre,(2)neck strap is difficult to install,(3)included bino-glove is unnecessary and can be replaced by standard lens covers.
