I am a beginner birder and found these binoculars and the price to be most satisfactory and I've had a great time with them
Patty G. from Brooklyn, NY
I've been lugging around a pair of (very nice) 10x50s for about 15 years. Finally, I decided that I needed something lighter. I knew I would have to give up something in magnification, but I hoped that the difference in weight would make up for it. On my first day of birding with this new pair, I was stunned! The image is so crystal clear, I didn't notice any difference in magnification!
Love that the left focus locks in place, so I don't have to adjust it every time I use them. Love the attached lens caps, love the lightness, love the view.
Love My Sky Kings
Frank from Michigan
I couldn't be happier with my Sky Kings. They are very clear, have a locking diopter, and the body is made of magnesium. The eye cups twist up and down. The only thing I don't like are the objective lens covers. They don't go on as easy as I would like, and they are attached and can get in the way. I suppose I could take them off. It's not a big deal. For the price, these can't be beat. I would recommend these to anyone who wants high end features without the big price. Buy them and be happy!
Excellent Quality for the Price
Robert V. from Fort Lauderdale, FL
This is the second Sky King that I've purchased. The first pair was a set of 10x42s that my girlfriend and I have been using for birding. We were very impressed with that set, and so when we decided to get an 8x42, we went with the Sky King again. The optics on these binoculars is excellent, especially for the price. The view is very sharp across the entire field of vision, and very bright as well. I wear glasses, and my girlfriend doesn't, so eye relief is important. The Sky King handles this very well, with plenty of relief for me and yet easily adjusted eye cups so they can be reset for her. Color rendering looks great as well.
In addition, the binocular is light and easy to carry around in the field for long periods. This is particularly important for us, since we also tend to carry a lot of other gear, like cameras. The light weight and compact size are a big plus.
As for the controls, the focus is very smooth and precise. My girlfriend thinks it's a little sensitive, but since I'm often using them with just one hand while manipulating camera gear with the other, I really appreciate the ability to change focus with minimal movement of the focus wheel. It is just sensitive enough to allow me to focus while holding them with just one hand, without changing my grip on them.
Since we live in South Florida, where conditions are often wet and humid, we appreciate the argon-filled sealed optics. Unsealed optics tend to fog, especially when moving air-conditioned cars and buildings into the muggy outdoors.
Overall I think these may be the best binocular value for the money. I could have easily afforded something two or three times the price, but I seriously doubt I would have gotten anything close to twice the quality for that money. I would highly recommend these to anyone who isn't looking to spend more than $400 on optics.
Quality product from Atlas Optics
Neal H. from North Carolina
I purchased this binocular for my wife, and she immediately fell in love with it. I have a pair of the Atlas Optics Intrepids, and this binocular rivals my pair in performance. I tried the Sky King out and was impressed by the crisp, clear image, compact size, and user-friendliness. My wife has small hands, but she was able to easily adjust the focus quickly.
If you're looking for a quality binocular that won't break the bank, take a look at the Sky King. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Best outdoor purchase I ever made!!

I love my new Atlas binoculars. I am ready for The Biggest Week of American Birding. Such a clear and sharp view.
These binoculars- the Atlas Sky King 8x42 are amazingly good quality. I purchased these to leave in the car (I know this is a bad idea for the longevity of the binoculars, and that's why I bought these less expensive ones) They compare nicely to my more costly ones, and are sharp and clear. I would not hesitate to get these again- Yes, they are a little bit heavier than I'd like, but not much, and the price is outstanding - but only so because they are really nice binoculars!

Great product. I am very satisfied with both the seller and the product.
Another sleeper from Atlas Optics

Already owning the lower cost Radian which has rapidly become a favourite I had wondered for a while what the more expensive Sky King offered for the extra money, when it came on sale I could not resist getting a pair, so whats the extra bang for the extra bucks?. At first I thought mine were faulty as the right eyepiece diopter adjustment didn,t want to move, however unlike the Radian its lockable with a push pull action, once I saw the word "lock" moulded into the body by the R/H eyepiece all was well, unlocked it moved smoothly with enough resistance to really make the lock redundant. The centre hinge is again smooth with enough tightness to hold the setting in place, focusing though at first a bit on the tight side has smoothed out with just a bit of use. The optics are sharp, crisp and clear, this bino is a tad heavier than the Radian probably due to the metal chassis used, when one looks at the specs on this glass including dielectric prism coatings it becomes very aparent that this is a really good binocular at a steal of a price. Even allowing for the shipping and duty (I,m in Canada) its a remarkable buy, so as I said in an earlier review of the Radian, if this was being retailed by one of the big optic names out there then you would pay considerably more, as it is it seems that E.O. import from the factory and retail direct to the customer, is Atlas Optics their own house brand? I don,t know, what I do know is that its a terrific value, do yourself a favour, get one of these gems before the sale price ends,a great glass and great service from E.O., Dave.(25 pairs of binos and still counting)

I've never had a nice pair of binoculars before. Typically I buy from yard sales. I'm going on a trip to Costa Rica in 2 weeks and ordered these. OMG - I've been missing so much! Never before have I been able to stabilize any binocular for viewing. My eyes are not strained and I can really see. It is amazing for me to call a retailer, describe my need and be custom fit to the perfect product. I can't wait to use them in the vacation field and not just practice on the baseball field.
Suzy from Illinois
I purchased these as a birding binocular for my son and they are great for the price. The image is sharp and clear, even in lower light. I like my Eagle Optic rangers a little better, but for an adolescent, and the price, I'm very happy with this product!
Maureen K. from Texas
I really am enjoying my new pair of Atlas Binoculars since the Spring migration has begun in my area of Texas. These binoculars are truly lightweight and I do not have to wear my prescription glasses to use them! I would highly recommend the Sky King 8 x 42 for clarity and easy to use.
Bright, Solid and Rugged
Patrick H. from Madison, WI
I'm a hard sell but these binos were an easy decision. I bought these binoculars mainly for bird watching and am impressed with the image brightness, field of view and ease of use. The focus moves freely though the dioptor adjuster is pretty stiff. Luckily it only has to be adjusted once and then it locks nicely. In low light the binos capture plenty of light. The colors come out true to my eyes and I am impressed with the high level features at this price. I will consider Atlas Optics if I decide on 10 power binos to look at the night skies. The staff are quite friendly, helpful and down to earth. And you can't ask for a better warranty. Hopefully I'll take a trip up to Hawk Ridge in Duluth yet this fall to test them further!
Great Retirement Gift
Terri from Oklahoma City, OK
I purchased these Binoculars on behalf of my office co-workers for a retirement gift for a friend who is interested in bird-watching. I did try these (to make sure they worked, of course) and they were excellent viewing quality and very easy and quick to focus. My personal binoculars are not very good quality, and I plan on buying a pair of these for myself. My friend who was the gift recipient was also thrilled with the quality.
Top features for a bargain price
Tim from Corryton, TN
The Atlas Optics lineup is full of great binoculars, and these Sky Kings are no exception. The first thing I was impressed by was the construction - magnesium chassis, BAK4 glass, dielectric coated prisms, etc. You normally have to spend $800+ to get those features. The binoculars just feel like a quality instrument. Optically, the first thing that hit me was the edge-to-edge image flatness and clarity - probably the center 75% is clear and with no chromatic aberration - impressive for binoculars in this price range. The center-of-view sharpness is good, but not on par with the AO Intrepids. The only two "issues" I have with the Sky Kings are the lack of brightness (not bad, but I expected more) and the yellow color bias (again, not bad, but I expected them to be more neutral). Overall though, these are very nice binoculars and, like the rest of the Altas line, a bargain at $199.
