Excellent value for beginning birders.
Trinidad R. from Pittsburgh, PA
Since Eagle Optics was out of an Celestron 8x42 I originally wanted, they suggested these instead. I'm quite happy with them and couldn't tell the difference in quality between these and a Celestron 8X32. I got them for a great price, and I love them. Some off-lighting issues every once in a while (I don't know the technical term) that doesn't interfere with my birding. Easily adjustable for my eyeglasses. Not heavy and can hold them still without tiring (have gone on all-afternoon birding sessions). Smooth focusing mechanism for near or far sighting. Lens covers are attached to the binocs or through the strap. A nice protective case, too. A good investment for beginning birders and will still be useful when you're ready to upgrade. Great customer service by Eagle Optics, too. Glad I went for the x42 instead of the x32. Would I buy them at their full price of $300? Not on my budget. But with a good sale, I think beginning birders will find this to be a good investment. My plan is to save up for good camera equipment for birding.

This is the best binocular that I have ever owned, anywhere close to the price that I purchased this pair for. These 8x42 Radian's are clear, easy to focus, built well & have the only snap on objective lens caps I have used....that really stays snapped on. I have owned & used binoculars that cost 2-3 times the price of this one, that are outshined by this 8x42 Radian. Very good value, & the best quality that most people will ever need. Liked my first one so much, I ordered another pair. For the price & quality, you can't beat it.
Very happy with our Radian binoculars
Steve from Massachusetts
We are casual binocular users but after using several different inexpensive types over the years I decided to try to find a good quality pair for a reasonable price. I did all the research, learning about binocular characteristics on the Eagle website as well as 4-5 others, mostly related to birding as the 8x42 is very popular for that purpose. We've had these for a few weeks now and are very happy with them. The magnification and brightness are very good, allowing us to see deep into the trees behind our house to watch for wildlife. The field of view is just right for our needs.
We have a bird feeder 10-12 feet from the house so getting a nice, clear closeup of the songbirds has been a treat. We are not birding experts, but what we thought was a Fox Sparrow was really a White-throated Sparrow thanks to the clear close-up provided by the Radians. And we are very happy with the eye relief - we both wear glasses and we're able to have a full view at the same setting. There are no local stores to check out optics so we're glad we were able to find a nice pair online. The 30-day money back guarantee and lifetime warranty sealed the deal.

IF.... you're looking for a good, solid quality binocular with a great price point, strongly consider the Atlas Optics Radian 8x42. Our high school has made these standard issue for the ornithology class. Reliable, excellent optics, very rugged. For these reasons, Eagle Optics is a great purchase!
David F from Washington
Pros: Sturdy, well constructed binoculars. All movement is smooth and controlled. Great clarity and easy focus, I'm using for bird watching and the definition is first rate.
Cons: I find they are a bit narrow for my big head so I have to have them positioned correctly to be able to see out of both eyes. I also haven't been able to use them with my glasses on effectively, not a major concern as the independent focus allows me to compensate.
Others: These are weighty, surprising so on first use.
Exactly What I Wanted from a Pair of Binoculars
Austin from New York State
• Reasonably wide field of view
• Very clear and sharp. -- When looking at a distant ridge it was easier to distinguish deer with these, than with a similarly priced pair of 10 x 50 binoculars, from another manufacturer.
• Well-balanced weight -- They're light enough to be well suited to long hikes, but have enough substance that they are very steady in the hand
• Bright enough for almost any light conditions
• Good value for the price -- I paid $130 for these and think they're worth every penny -- You can pay more for higher quality optics, but as I am more of a nature/outdoors enthusiast than an intense birdwatcher, these are more than sufficient. Also, I don't feel obligated to baby these binoculars, as I might with a more expensive pair.
• Fantastic customer service and warranty -- I was recommended this pair by a representative of Eagle Optics, who was extremely patient, thorough and accurate, when answering the deluge of questions I had as a first-time optics buyer.
• You spin through most of the focus dial between two and 80 yards, which was a bit unsettling testing them in my backyard, But they still focus reasonably at much greater distances
• There is a tiny bit of blurriness at the very bottom of the field of view, but it's so small as to have no impact in real world situations.
• My gut reaction after using them in the field was that I wish the rain guard had a flip design similar to the objective lens covers, but I didn't realize you could tether it to the neck strap, so I'm going to try this on my next outing.

I watched a lot of reviews and information videos on binoculars, and then decided on these for our safari in Africa. I was very happy with them. They worked very well, and they were fairly compact for carrying around - an important consideration. Eagle Optics gave me great service and helped me choose. I felt very confident in using them for my purchase. I've had a few friend now who have bought the same binoculars and also been very happy with them.

I had Eagle Optics Shrike previously, and brought the Radians after gifting my Shrike to my sister. The color of the Radian is definitely a bit more vivid than the Shrike. The barrel length is also shorter, so it is nice and compact, which makes up for the slightly heavier weight than my previous pair. I read a LOT of reviews online, and for a pair of binocs under $150, this is one of the biggest bangs for your bucks you can get.

Prompt service, great quality and fast follow-up!
Great binocular for the price.

I stopped by the Middleton Wisc. showroom to purchase a set of binoculars for an upcoming trip. The salesman presented me with four models that matched my criteria. The Atlas Optic Radian 8x42 was my choice. The fit in my hands, the light transmission and color resolution really set these apart from the others. Plus the unconditional warranty was an added bonus. I am very pleased with the Atlas Optic Radians.

This was my first pair of "real" binoculars (I don't think my grandmother's mother of pearl opera glasses count!). I purchased them for an Amazon River adventure and they were great, easy to focus and great depth of vision. I was able to see the birds and animals that were pointed out and began to locate some of them on my own. I was surprised at how easy they were to use and how comfortable they felt when I wore them, good magnification at a reasonable weight and price.
Great but heavy
Mdonohue from Oregon
These are great, easy to focus, but they are heavy.
Excellent quality and value
Lisa from Boise Idaho
These binoculars were the first pair I have owned that were not compact. I was looking for a higher quality binoculars at a reasonable price and I have been extremely pleased . Some of the details such as ease of focusing and the sturdy carrying case and lense covers made all the difference. As a novice to bird watching these binoculars are perfect for hiking and scenic drives. Also very nice for my husband and me to each have our own set of binoculars instead of sharing. These binoculars are well worth the price.
Benjamin V. from United States
Well I needed a new pair of binoculars and did some serious comparison shopping between this and many other roof prism 8x42s of the same price range. These seemed to have all the lens coatings and other features of the Eagle Optics Denali and Vortex Crossfire at a lower price. They have fully lived up to my expectations, although they're not as bright or true in color as the Nikon Monarchs that I had before. However, this is acceptable for the price range. We'll see how they hold up in the long run!
My new binocs
Donna r. from California
These binoculars are excellent..and for a great price!
Easy to focus and no problem with wearing my glasses.
The only minor flaw was that the logo / strength metal gizmo on the focusing barrel fell off...almost immediately.
Great quality, great value
Kyle from NH
I have had the Atlas Radian 8x42 Binoculars for about a year and a half, and I must say they have proven to be a great quality at a great value. They provide awesome clarity and field of view. They have withstood many, many birding outings in weather conditions ranging from gale force storm winds to -20 degree cold. They are a reasonable weight, and a very comfortable grip.
Can't beat that lifetime warranty, either!
I would certainly recommend for the casual and extremely active birder.
What a deal
Peter A. from Orem, Utah
These are a very impressive binocular. I would suggest them to anyone as a birder, hunter or even to watch sporting events like football.
Steve V. from United States
I bought these for my father as a Christmas present. I helped to get the strap on and had a chance to look through them and was impressed with the quality. They felt solid and were easy to hold up.
Couldn't be happier!
Robert C. from Tempe AZ
These Atlas bins were on sale for $99.00 and I bought a pair for a young, new birder. I can't believe the quality for this price. I have Zeiss and Brunton glass just for comparison. And Eagle Optics went way beyond extra in the service department by covering the extra shipping costs for weekend delivery.
Eagle is awesome. I've purchased a lot of products from them and it's always the same solid value and service.

Very satisfied with product. the atlas optics radian 8x42 binoculars were a gift to my mom. They exceeded her expectations. Easy to use. Excellent depth of field.
A Very Happy Camper
B Ford from San Antonio Tx
I am a beginner bird watcher and my budget was $100 or less.
Did considerable online research. Final decision came down to the Atlas and a popular well know brand.
The main reasons I chose the Atlas Optics Radian:
. price was $99 and free shipping;
. Eagle Optics Platinum Protection unlimited, unconditional
. fully multi-coated lenses, eye relief 17.5mm, close focus;
. it included the accessories & case.
The Radian serves my needs perfectly. Works very well with glasses, easy to focus, light weight, excellent clarity, wide field of view.
Would definitely recommend and purchase again

I'm very pleased with the quality and price of the binoculars.
These are my first binoculars for bird watching and they fill all of my expectations. I would recommend these to a friend.
Tonya G. from Mason City
I was looking for something nicer for the kids since they are progressing with birding as a hobby. These are durable and easy to use. Kids are 11,9,7.
V P from USA
The field of view and amount of light is exceptional. Clarity is great as well. The eye-pieces have two discrete lockable positions, which is clever. The compact size enabled by the roof prism makes using this pair of binoculars very convenient. The build quality is solid and the binoculars are an exceptional value considering the price ($100 at time of purchase).
I used the binoculars for birding. My professional birding guide was so impressed that he wanted to buy mine on the spot because good binoculars came at a premium in the country we were visiting. I sold it to him for the same price as I bought it for but I wish I hadn't as the price has gone up. I would buy another pair again.

Eagle Optics(the company) was suggested by an experienced birder whom i had asked for binocular advice. When i called their toll-free number, a person answered on the first half-ring. No Prompts. And the two or three women and men i spoke with on different days were professionally engaged: i.e. knowledgeable, experienced, helpful. I purchased a sale item- Atlas bins-from an Eagle Optics email. Uncharacteristically, i did no research prior to ordering. They arrived quickly (either the next day or day after and no shipping/handling fees) and have exceeded my expectations as eye-openers and even more impressively as light enhancers. Atlas Binoculars 8x42. I now know the company(Eagle Optics) is in Wisconsin, manufactures and services Eagle Optics Brand, but also offers other quality lines. What made me an instant appreciator of Eagle is their respect for your time and your role in the dynamic of exchange. Product exceeded expectations and personal contact points were supportive. They're there on site. They understand and speak english and don't waste your time 'over-thanking' you for submitting to security questions etc.
My only disappointment comes as a result of trying to submit this review. I am always sorry to see the unneeded 'stasi' like 'captcha' security (i'm always rejected at least once) as i have been today. Still, it's an unqualified 5 Stars for Eagle optics because i trust if i wrote to them about the annoying captcha they would either explain why they use it or recognize it's wrongness.
MBA alert: this is a company getting it right in the 21st century.
Great value for gift; Would have kept them.
Roz K. from San Francisco
These are a great value, not too heavy, perfect for a birder who likes to do a lot of hiking, and doesn't want to carry too much weight. If they weren't a gift for someone who was living with "monoculars" having broken his, I would have been happy to keep them.

Got these fine binos at an EXCELLENT sale price for my grandson's first pair of "real" binos. I was impressed with the quality and clarity. I own the Eagle Ranger 8x42 the Atlas comes close to them in every way.... Just not quite an EAGLE!
Great starter pair for a kid!
The Amazon River Never Looked so Beautiful
Jerry S. from Boston, MA
My wife and I just took my new Atlas Radian 8x42 binoculars along for a week long excursion on the Amazon River, travelling with a guide and 15 fellow adventurers, departing from Iquitos, Peru. I was impressed with the quality, style and optics of the new binoculars, which allowed me to quickly and clearly capture the images of many (often fast-moving) birds, monkeys, and river dolphins, and butterflies. My fellow travelers shared my amazement that a pair of binoculars could produce such a clear image at such a fantastic price. The fact that they were waterproof was a must in the humidity and rain of the Amazon basin, and the attached lens caps were a real plus. Even my guide was impressed, and asked me for the Eagle Optics website so he could recommend these fantastic binoculars to future clients. My wife wants her own pair! We'll never travel without them.

I recently bought two pairs of these binoculars based on the reviews for two of my grandsons for Christmas. The will be used for bird watching, Deer hunting and viewing sporting events. I personally have Eagle Optics ranger binoculars in 10 x 42 which I could not recommend more and use daily and also Pentax 8 x 42 DCF WP my old standby which I also feel are very sharp. I opened a pair up and checked them out at close and long range. I was astounded at the clarity as well as the sharpness. These binoculars are a incredible value and definitely worthy of your consideration!
