ABA Heads To Birdiest City
Dubbed America's birdiest city, Corpus Christi, Texas is the destination from April 27th to May 3rd for the 40th annual convention of the American Birding Association. With a mission to support and educate North American birders, the ABA convention is only one of many excellent activities organized by this important organization.
Host cities for the ABA convention are not just left with the memories of a great birding event, but are the lucky recipients of funding for a local conservation or education project. The ABA Convention Project collects generous contributions from members, then selects the project of an area organization to fund. With financial support last year from the ABA Convention Project, construction of trail, boardwalk, observation blind, and interpretive signs was completed at the Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area in Utah.
Members of the ABA can register for its premier birding education program, The Institute for Field Ornithology. Intended for anyone with a sincere interest in learning about bird identification, history, and conservation, these workshops are held throughout the year in various locations. The workshop time is split evenly between field and classroom sessions.
North American birders benefit from all these terrific activities, but the vital work of the ABA extends beyond our borders through its sponsorship of the world-renown Birders' Exchange. By accepting donations of new and used birding equipment and educational materials, the ABA supplies Latin America and Caribbean scientists, conservationists, and educators in their work to protect the bird population. Eagle Optics is a proud supporter of Birders' Exchange.
It is Eagle Optics' pleasure to be in Corpus Christi this year as the official optics vendor for the ABA convention. We hope you will come by our booth to see the best selection of binoculars, spotting scopes, and tripods.
